This is a great pub in one corner of the Greenwich market, which has a nice outdoor seating area actually inside the market itself! We’ve enjoyed a bit of people watching there, pretty great place to grab a beer and sit down away from some of hecticness of the market. Inside is cozy, as people mentioned couches and things — as well as normal tables. Not a ton of room, but good sized and good atmosphere. Services is fairly good, never had any issues getting a drink. Will update when we get the food, but for now a good pub in a good location!

The Coach and Horses isn’t for everyone if you want a pokey little pub that shows off it’s Naval History in Greenwich this isn’t for you but if you want to have a few pints in a friendly, chilled and laid back atmosphere with the option of a heated seated area within the market itself this is the place for you… this is the best pub within the Greenwich Market as it doesn’t try to scream its heritage like others… casual drinking with friendly staff I can’t recommend this place enough!

My family and I had a vey bad experience here, which I will not say was typical but should be shared. We arrived at opening time(12) planning to sit, drink and eat lunch. The place had been locked up and not well ventilated, so it stank of stale ale. The bar man was visibly annoyed to see customers come in at opening time. I took some menus outside to sit in the open air seating in the market, and the bar woman followed me and snatched these from my hands, tutting, and proceeded to lay one on each table, so that I had to gather four up for our party. It was really clear that they were not happy to have customers. So after sitting outside for a few moments we decided to eat elsewhere.

Decent pub in Greenwich, surrounded by the hustle-bustle of the market during the day and quiet and secluded by night. Decent selection of beers, not bad food and nice, historic location. There are definitely worse pubs in Greenwich, but then there are better too. If you’re in the market pop by.

I hadn’t been to Greenwich for ages, and this place must be absolutely buzzing on market day. As it was I visited on a week night and was pleased to find a seat(away from the football which was shown on the other, more packed side of the bar). Staff were very friendly(albeit defensive when tackled about the lack of light in the toilets), and they have a good selection of beers and wine. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to taste the food on this occasion, but everyone else’s looked rather delicious.

This used to be my ‘go-to’ place years ago… I’m talking YEARS ago. So, I decided to meet a mate I hadn’t seen in a while for lunch and a quick drink and told him to meet me here. Oh my days! Coach & Horses is located inside Greenwich Market and there’s always some hussle around. It has a fireplace and that used to be one of the main draws. The music is now blaring — so don’t bother trying to have a quiet chat or read a newspaper by the fireplace They don’t serve food at lunch time anymore — when did that happen? They used to have cool servers — they have been replaced with wannabe NY Style Hipsters(that’s a VERY bad thing) And something that actually trumped the above annoyances… the smell! As soon as I walked in here I thought I had been punched in the gut by some dark force from hell. What is that smell? What WAS that smell? Well, as my friend arrived, we had to get the heck out of there because we were both feeling sick. Hopefully they will clean it up or get whatever has crawled up in there and died out sharpish!

This as much a restaurant as a bar, with a massive heated terrace for diners and a cozy but very un-pub-like interior — think lots of airy space with couches and fresh flowers on every table. That sort of thing is fine if you are expecting it, but many drinkers won’t be. They serve good beer. We drank Paulaner and ate from their evening menu on the terrace, which is not properly outdoors as its located under the roof of Greenwich market. I daresay the atmosphere was improved by the fact we were eating while the market was in full swing. The food was good, if not spectacular. Myself and a friend had the ‘homemade’ burger and his girlfriend got a goat’s cheese salad. What makes the place, however, is the terrace. Would definitely go back if I’m in the area on a Sunday.

It must be something with the name Coach and Horses, this one in Greenwich is a gem. For a start, it’s smack in the market which is great fun. I love sitting and watching the guys pack up their wares. There’s something lovely about that. It’s also just a fun place to be in summer. The market is covered so if the weather takes a rubbishy turn(like it did yesterday) you won’t get rained on. The food is great. Really great. Although I’m not a fan of their chips. But I think this might be personal taste — I like crispy fries, not huge wedges. but their burgers are homemade and I’ve never had a bad meal here. Good choice of beers too, but nothing special. The pub also has local art on the walls and the occasional mini exhibition. They’ve got a great log fire and it’s just a great pub. I never seem to stay here all night, but I always enjo it when I’m here. I just wish the staff would cheer up a bit.
