I miss you, your replacement does not fill the hole in my heart that you left… sniff.

The Dragon Bar is located just behind Old Street roundabout, leading towards Moorgate. It is a smallish bar, but comfortable enough with a series of leather sofas. The downstairs area also contains some comfortable seating, but is slightly more claustrophobic with its low ceiling and stuffy air. The drinks at the Dragon Bar are slightly cheaper than the average Shoreditch venue, which makes it an attractive place to start a night off. If you enjoy having something to read while you are in a toilet you won’t be disappointed here, since the toilets are are interestingly, entirely covered in comic strips. This isn’t the world’s great bar, and I have once been here when there were a couple of dodgy types, but it is generally a worldly place to start a fun evening with some friends.

I have in recent years become a little nostalgic for music-driven venues. Places whose primary function was to introduce new talent and offer a beacon of hope in a world of so much mediocrity. The Dragon Bar in this respect is an absolute blessing serving up fantastic DJs who specialise in anything from electro to funk, hip-hop and jungle. Break out your dancing shoes. Whats even more exciting is that it’s nigh on impossible to find with an almost indistinguishable exterior making things feel a bit naughty and secretive. The interior is manic with an outrageous Boho-Chic deor and graffiti adorning the surfaces. The drinks are fairly standard but pretty cheap for this part of town. On the down side the clientele is just a bit too cool and sadly often more concerned with posing than dancing like a pratt. If you can get past this though then you’re guaranteed a great night.
