As other reviewers have noted, we ate here because the touter offered an £11 deal. We were seated right away, and it was nice having the Papadum to snack on while we waited for our meal. The pacing of the food was perfect. Right after we finished our starters they cleared the table and a few minutes later brought out the main dishes. We had(2 people): –Papadum with 4 sauces(the yellow mint sauce was really good) –fried onion patties(I forget the proper name) –minced lamb kebab(yet again, I forget the name) –lamb korma –chicken dhansak –garlic naan –coconut naan –2x plain rice –2 cokes Outside of the deal we got a mango lassi, which was very good, and a hazelnut ice cream dessert. Overall with tip we paid £30, which was a very good deal for a date night! The servers were friendly, though a couple times they didn’t understand our question. It was just crowded enough to be comfortable, but not loud. The spicing on the lamb korma was amazing, and I was very happy that it was actually mild, as I have a very very low spice tolerance. I liked the coconut naan more than the garlic naan, but both were good. The minced lamb kebab was a little dry, I wish it had come with some sort of sauce. Oh, and the background music was really soothing. But overall I would definitely recommend this place!

DONTGOHERE! I encountered concrete in embedded in my nann as I bit into it and heard a huge crunch and had to spit it out. On complaining I received no apology or even a shock from the waitresses or an explanation of how concrete gets into my meal!!! Also made to still pay for the meal– they wouldn’t give us the amount of change agreed! Awful service. DONTGO unless you want a chipped sore tooth!!!

This place lures you in with their friendly staff and entices you with a really good deal. 10 pounds for a starter, any main, rice, naan, and popadams, and the food is delicious. They befriend you and write on a piece of paper the same deal and tell you to bring it back next time and show them, so that you and your friends can get the same deal any time of day. Well, I came back with a friend and was waited on by THESAMEGUY. He was friendly and definitely remembered me, then he charged us both £14.95 for our meals, despite me ordering LESS than last time(I got tap water this time. Last time they gave me a pint of beer). My friend who ordered a beer got one less than half the size of mine from before. I am never going back to this place. When I brought up the higher bill, he apologized and said he would charge me £10, then rang it up for £14.95. He blatantly lied to my face and tricked me in to paying more, then tried to justify it on the popadams(which are only 50p on the menu anyways). Looking back, I regret walking out in stunned disbelief instead of confronting him further and demanding a refund. Steer clear, folks. I understand it’s a competitive business but scamming your customers is no way to succeed.

I’ve given this place 5*‘s as for the deal of poppadums, starters, mains and rice with bring your own alcohol for £10 you cannot go wrong. The staff are personable and funny, they love a banter and are very helpful. I don’t really bother to go anywhere else now when I pop down the Osborn Street curry mile as the food is good quality and I enjoy the service so much. I always bring friends there and they always have a great time as well.

We ate here because the touter was a great salesman on giving us a £10 deal. The food was quite tasty. better than the Indian food I had last night at the Unilocal-recommended ‘india club restaurant’, so I am happy with this choice. We had: –Papadum to start with 4 sauces, –2 king fischer pints each, –keema naan, –vegetable rice, –chicken tikka appetizer(very small. 4 cubes), –mixed bbq appetizer, –Lamb korma main entrée(very yum) –and Prawn Bhuna main entrée(very yum) I would come here again! And to the bad reviews(we got 2 full pints each. and in the off-licenses we saw the same for £3.50 a piece! so definitely a great value)

It’s the first place you’ll pass going up brick lane from transport. Looks to be under new management. The tout out front will give you a good package deal for starter, main dish, and 2 drinks. Food was tasty. Sauces were flavorful(we had 3 mains), and the meats were tender and juicy. They do go a little light on the quantity of meat. They also go light on the heat of the curry(unless you ask), but the spicing was otherwise well done. Vegetables appeared to have been from frozen.

Quite surprised at the horrible reviews! Of course we were haggled on the street and went in after a deal of shared rice, naan, bottle of wine, a starter each, and main dish each for 20 quid. The mix kebab starter was quite good, although the lamb a bit tough. I don’t do spice well so I got the chicken tikka masala which was excellent. My friend ordered the lamb curry and thoroughly enjoyed it. Waiters weren’t very friendly but did their jobs otherwise. It was a nice evening and we were happily stuffed as we headed home.

Got suckered into eating at this place based on the enticing deal of £10 for that crisp-like stuff with the sauces(can’t recall the name), a starter, a main, rice, naan and two beers. The starter(mixed kebab) was literally four bite-sized pieces of meet with some iceberg lettuce and a piece of tomato. None of the meats were very exciting. The main(I had chicken tikka masala) didn’t have much meat, either. The sauce was pretty weak and overly sweet — almost sugary. It just wastn’t very flavorful. The vegetable rice I had was overly greasy. The naan was fine. The«two beers» were two half pints. The restaurant itself if fairly small and quite loud. The wait staff was OK. I wouldn’t go back to eat here and I wouldn’t recommend this place to my friends, and that’s enough to earn this place one star.

Didn’t need to do much haggling and got a good deal here for dinner. Mixed kebab starter was nice. Got the first specialty on dish on their menu, can’t remember the name. I usually go for the hottest dishes, but took it down quite a few notches. Nice tomato flavor with well cooked shrimp. Mild at best.

This place sucks. Don’t go. Curry sauces from a bottle are more tasty. The lamb was tough and fatty. Samosa and bhaji were absolute crap. The guys there aren’t too friendly, not outright mean, but not friendly. Really regretted going here. No point going here when there are so many other options within 100 metres. You’re better off with Indian-in-a-box from Tesco.

Try the Bengali specialities, as this is one of the ‘hidden treasure’ cuisines of Asia. Bengali food is a lovely surprise for those who haven’t encountered it before. The korahi dishes are delicious, and you should make an effort to try the fish dishes as well. Leave the vindaloos and ‘Madras’ dishes for wannabe hard men, you’re in Banglatown and should leave your comfort zone once in a while — you won’t be disappointed. The service is attentive without being in the least intrusive, and the food is brilliant. The owner is happy to explain any aspects of the menu to the uninitiated(like my wife and me), and we went out of our way to return to his establishment again before heading back home to Australia. I would not hesitate to recommend this cheap and cheerful eatery to any of my friends; well worth a detour!

Yup, its a good deal in that you get a starter, main & drink for a tenner, but then again you get what you pay for… friendly staff but definitely better places to go in Brick Lane.

Really great place, friendly, they look after you and the food is lovely. The only place on Brick Lane I have been that has delivered what they promise, not tried to fudge the truth and bill you for extras, they love their regulars and we love them! My parents were over from Australia and said it was the best curry they had EVER had! These guys will not disappoint you. They are happy, smiling all the time!

The first time I came here I didn’t think much about the place, only because it was for a friends’ birthday and there were far to many people and far too many bottles of cheap wine was provided. All I could really remember was how sparse and uncomfortable the interior was. However, the second time was much more memorable. Having had the worst planned out night ever, we were stranded by Aldgate East station wondering what to do. It was almost 1 am, and we were not ready to head home yet. So we turned into Brick Lane and this was the first restaurant we saw. They were almost abut to close but graciously let us in. However, all we wanted was a few things to nibble on, but they said their rule was that we each had to have a main meal. So grudgingly we each ordered something to share. We had lamb balti, chicken tikka and an aubergine dish. We were actually pleasantly surprised by how good each dish was that we weren’t so annoyed anymore. The aubergine was definitely the best dish! However, despite how good the food was, I wouldn’t recommend it be eaten at 1 am!

When my friend and I walked towards Brick Lane we had already decided not to get touted but as we turned the corned and entered the Lane we got caught in a huge downpour — we do live in Britain after all! Out of nowhere(well a doorway) came our saviour with an umbrella and an offer we could not say not to: two courses, rice or naan and a bottle of house wine to share for £10 per person. We reasoned that even if the food was awful we still had the bottle of wine to console ourselves! The food was actually very nice. It had a lot of flavour and the portions quite normal. We left as happy costumers with a card promising us the same deal for next time. I did go again and had the same good deal, this time choosing pints over wine. Unfortunately the food was not nearly as good this time around and my partner who likes and had asked for a spicy dish thought it was quite bland. I was a bit disapointed that it was not as nice as the first time around, but it was not bad the second time — just a bit boring. I would go back here on a night out with student friends as the prices are hard to beat and the food varying from good to OK. Do not, however, choose this place if you are looking for a really special Indian.
