Great place for a pint. Grabbed a couple, hung out at the outside section with heat lamps, and enjoyed the people watching. Easy access to Baker St underground.

This place has just had a refit and clearly the new staff are enthusiastic. The place was let down though by the lack of snacks(apparently the staff have eaten all the crisps) and the limited range of price lists. It is a huge improvement on the previous incarnation, but not as good as the local Chapel and Perseverance pubs. I’d go elsewhere for the time being as it can only improve and when it does I will head back to try again!

The Globe has a captive audience being the only obvious meeting place in close proximity to Baker Street. And it’s nice that it doesn’t abuse it’s position as the only pub on this stretch of the busy Marylebone Road. It’s big and fairly basic, the typical tourist-catcher with just enough of a traditional pub feel to it. Their fish and chips were popular with a group of school kids on my last visit who must have stopped over after a visit to Madame Tussauds. I’ve been here on busy nights when drinkers spilled out onto the pavement. This is not possible at the moment with the front obscured by some massive hoardings. You have to walk around a building site to find the entrance. It’s rather noisy downstairs with the sensual overkill loud Europop but you can usually find a spot in the quieter bar upstairs. The friendliness of the staff came as a pleasant surprise. The bar up here is tiny and stocked with just the basics, but our server went downstairs to get some cucumber when we specified we’d like our G&T with Hendricks — well impressed.

Caught up with some friends who were visiting London and this was the nearest pub to the tube. The rugby was on(woo-hoo) so plenty of sports fans there and and not an indecent selection of beers. This pub has been around for a few years and gets a fair amount of tourists coming through but I think pretty well supported by locals too. Anyway, us being us, we decided to stay on and enjoy the busy atmosphere with a few more beers and some food. We all had burgers which were pretty good — much better than I was expecting — there’s can be a bit of trepidation about ordering pub food — so thumbs up there. Prices were reasonable, good drinks selection, busy crowd, and reasonable service.

Used to be a good place to hang out and drink after a hard days work in the office. Too noisy now and too many young kids(or am I just getting older). Anyway drinks are good, usually a decent atmosphere although loud, BUT you get nice traffic of decent looking tourist ladies and that’s why I like the place ;)

This place is probably better known for it’s tourism purposes than it’s function as a pub — supposedly this historic pub is where Sherlock Holmes liked to get some relaxation. I swung by while waiting for my friend at Baker St tube station(conveniently across the street from the pub). The food here is as you’d expect, I had a beef pie which is done fairly well. The pastry was a little bit on the dry side but the filling was delicious. To drink, I had a nice Cornish Pilsner which was pretty good, nothing special though. Runs a little on the expensive side, all together I paid ~ 18 quid for lunch and a pint.

After 30 minutes of having the hardest time finding a place to eat, we decided to come here and it was delicious! We all got the Taylor Walker Steak & Ale Pie and wow so good. Great flavors, it wasn’t too salty. The crust is always my weakness and I couldn’t stop eating it, even when I was full. I also got the fries… so yummy! Service was a bit slow, but at least the food was worth the wait.

The renowned Baker Street detective, Sherlock Holmes, sat thoughtfully on the red leather armchair with a pipe on his hand. After a knock, Dr. Watson entered the study and gave Holmes an urgent, but polite reminder. «My friend» Watson said, «It is time pay the crime scene a visit.» The crime scene was just down the street at the corner pub, The Globe. A brisk walk on a chilly Summer afternoon left both the gentlemen rather exhausted. They decided to get some information with bartender first. Watson approached the bar. «Good ‘noon, sir. May I have two pints of the pale ale, please.» «Comin’ right up.» «You know most of the regulars here?» «We don’t get many regulars up here, mate. Just tourists mostly. I don’t usually see the same face twice. That’ll be 9 pounds for the drinks.» «Good day, sir.» Watson found Holmes outside by the standing tables and relayed the newly acquired information. He did not forget to add that the pub two streets down had pints for a better price. After a drink of their beverage, Holmes appeared absorbed in thought. After a moment of reflection, the legendary detective asked Watson to summarize the case thus far. «Very well. The victim was scheduled with Mr. Malevance here at The Globe. According to our notes, Malevance is a rather frugal apprentice who works just two streets down. He told us he had met the victim here several times before, and they had plans to enjoy a cold and refreshing beer here on the day of the crime. However, according to Malevance, the victim never showed up.» There was a glimmer in Holmes eyes. He just had a breakthrough. «My dear Watson, Malevance is lying. As a frugal consumer, there is little chance that he will be willing to spend nearly 5 pounds for a drink when, as you mentioned, there is a pub near where he works for a far better price.» «But maybe he enjoys the quality of The Globe and is willing to pay a premium. Could that be a possibility?» Watson inquired. «Take another drink, old friend. Malevance said he planned for a ‘cold and refreshing’ drink, but you and I can both attest to the fact that this beer is served warm. While that may be a crime in itself, it also happens to be evidence against Malevance’s testimony.» «Finally,» Holmes continued, «Malevance claimed to have met the victims many times before at The Globe. But our fine bartender here says that this pub is only frequented by tourists. Thus, Watson, I have little doubt that Malevance has given us false information!» «Cheers, Holmes.» Watson said in awe, «You’ve done it again.» The two gentlemen left their warm beer in haste and walked through a group of tourists to their office.

I have ended up in the pub a few times as it is near a lot of work places and close to a tube to get me home after! My visits have normally been spurred on by the need to find a pub in the area that is showing the football /rugby. They have lots of screens so matter where you stand /sit, you can get eyes-on the game. Even though when it is really busy, you can get served almost straight away, which is something I have to say is a real bonus. The toilets are a bit of a mission to get to, down the stairs, round several corners and then finally you can pee! There are enough tables and«barrel-tops» to stand by if you want to sit outside. The pricing is average for London. It’s good for sports watching and to roll over the road to a tube station, but that is where my appreciation of this place ends. I wouldn’t really go here for drinks with friends for a catch up or for food. It really is just to watch the game and for that it serves it’s purpose well. If I am in the area and want to watch a game it’s top of my list, for anything else, there are plenty of better bars/pubs around the area.

This place is right off of the Baker St. tube station. I visited here for one of my school’s mixers and there are two levels in case downstairs gets too crowded. In general, a decent bar to meet up with friends.

The Globe pub near Baker Street is a huge pub which gets lots of tourists. I think they must rely on them because one visit is enough. I ordered roast beef and for some reason this pub doesn’t provide roast beef when you order it. They provide a chunk of braised beef instead. They call it roast beef on the menu. My friend ordered medium rare steak but it arrived raw and was sent back for more cooking. She also ordered a salad and was offered Tartar Sauce as a dressing which is shocking really. This place is not cheap and many tourists go in there so it should be better.

For such a touristy area I had hoped for something a bit better. Food is «meh» beer selection ok, but the place is just a bit lacking in everything else, like: cleanliness, atmosphere, character and reason to come back

Just another over priced central London pub, nothing spectacular. It’s part of Taylor Walken –pubs(a big chain) so the food is good but the beer is expensive: £5.40 for a pint is the most I have ever paid in London and hopefully will be! If your in the are and just want a pint I recommend the Metropolitan across the street. It’s a Wetherspoon(cheap pub chain) so the drink won’t set you back too much…

The Globe is a basic local — nothing amazingly amazing but nothing horrible either. However, for being a bar that’s so close to a popular underground station, it’s rarely ever packed and I’ve almost always gotten a table, and that alone makes it a win. Beers at the wooden bar in the back, tables throughout the space and some barrels turned into standing tables on the outside patio, The Globe has a nice selection of beers. They pride themselves on having craft beer from around the world, which is a win! And the staff are friendly and will help you choose the right drink. Also, and I can;t stress this enough, they have bar munchies! Three different types of nuts in the back of the bar. And one of them, the greatest nut in the world: pistachios! What. Yes. That makes me love this bar a little bit more. Overall, a good simple bar. And the ability to do one too many drinks and stumble right into the Baker Street Underground — can’t be beat. Just watch out, there is a street between the bar and the station, so just look both ways before you cross the street.

I hate to do this. But seriously and in all-honest-to-God-sincerity, this was by far the worst sandwich I’ve ever tried to eat in my life. Tried?! Yes, tried. I had to wash down each bite with beer because it was bone dry. The bread threatening to disappear into dust by one mean glance. A slab of mustard, some dry ham(how can ham be dry?! It is old). Some cheese that was indecipherable. A sandwich is something so easy, truly I could make it. The service is only done at the bar, so there was no one to even check in to see«how things might be going.» Not well, my friends, not well. Accompanied by a few sprigs of yellow lettuce. Insult to injury! Salt in the sandwich wounds. More like CROAK Monsieur. Bad news, Unilocalers. Stay away from the food and if you are going to hit up this super-expat hangout, stick to beer. And beer alone.

Kinda touristy, but in a good, central location for a meet-up. We got together with a London friend while visiting and shared a couple of pints as well as a decent fish and chips. Prices are in line with the area and just a bit above regular pub fare.

I’ve only been to this pub once for a sort of date so maybe that’s another reason why I’m put off by it! I work close by and it’s one of those pubs that you look at and always think it looks horrible and who goes in there! Mind you it’s always busy especially when the weather’s nice and everyone — seems to always be packed full of men! — spills out onto the street. There is nothing special about the place, though it was cheap for the area, the staff were friendly as were the other clientele and the location is great — right opposite Baker St station. I, for one though, will not be returning.

I remember quaffing a pre football drink here many years ago that I quite enjoyed. Maybe things have gone downhill a little, because the pub seemed to lack an atmosphere despite being busy… too busy really. A couple of tvs apologise for their existence on the walls. The big tables outside are quite decent though. Had a half of abbot ale that wasn’t even worth drinking really. Has been around for centuries. Probably goes through good and bad times but its location for tourists and other travelers will keep it alive.
