Nice spot for a nice meal. This is one of those classic places that you feel has been around forever. It’s a lovely little pub with a lovely dining area for more sit-down meals. I just did a quick bowl of the tomato soup for a light lunch in the downstairs area and it was think and creamy and came with some bread on the side(nice touch.) The service was good, nothing special but not bad either. We had to signal them once or twice but overall, we were checked-up on. They do have a quality beer garden though. It was too cold for us to really enjoy it that day but if it was an afternoon in the sun with good friends, I could see this being the spot to go to. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

Food is ok, but morning memorable. Decent drinks range but not a huge range. Service is ok but also not mind blowing. It’s a great pub to go to for a drink or a meal, but nothing fancy. If I wanted great food I would go elsewhere, as I would if I wanted a wider drinks selection. That said it can’t be beaten in the sun. Great beer garden.

This place was just wonderful, a short walk for the Novotel in Greewhich, we chose this place for a family reunion dinner, there were seven of us spanning 3 generations and it was just a perfect experience for all. They reallly went out of their way to look after us, The service was friendly and impeccable, the food was delicious — highlights were the porkbelly/stew and the salmon main, i also enjoyed the beetroot soup and the(Cornish) Trelawny Bitter(St Austell Brewery)

We decided to go here today due to it being a sunny Sunday and wanting to sit in a nice pub garden & after it being recommended for that reason & it was conveniently local for us. We had the roast which was honey glazed roast chicken which was really awkward to eat and quite a small portion but nice. However I wouldn’t rave about it and return in a hurry, I’ve had better and cheaper roasts(this was £13.50) or so. The garden was nice though and there was a relaxed and friendly vibe with great service too. The pub was a short walk — ten mins — from Deptford Broadway DLR stop along a busy main road.

I attended a wedding reception in the Guildford Arms late last year. All was going fine, food was good but at around 7pm the staff turned off the music and the whole reception got turfed out even tho we had the room till close. the staff were extremely unapologetic and had the BRIDEINTEARS before we all had to leave. reason? they wanted more covers for the evening restaurant. The Guildford Arms destroyed what would have been a perfect evening. message to the pub: in future please be aware of the responsibility you have when holding a wedding reception and dealing with the most important day of a couples lives.

I found this restaurant on Unilocal when looking for somewhere to eat close to The O2. Admittedly, its not actually that close, but Dan B’s glowing review tempted me to book anyway. When I called to make the reservation, they told me that they were doing a deep clean but hoped to be open for our booking at 6.30pm. We popped our heads round the door at 6pm and everything looked in order — dinner was on! On arrival we were taken upstairs to the dining room. We were the only people there but I guess this wasn’t a surprise as we were dining quite early. The dining room is really pleasantly decorated in shades of pale green and brown, and we were given a table by the window. They only do a set menu — £26 for two courses, £30 for three courses, great value for the quality of the food. Obviously we went for the three course option! Service was great, we were served quickly but not rushed in any way. For starter I chose the pan fried trout on a bed of lentils with black pudding. I thought that the strong flavour of the latter two ingredients may drown out the delicate trout, but all three ingredients complimented each other nicely. The trout skin was so crispy it was a delight. For main course I chose the venison, cooked rare as recommended by the chef, served with chestnut purée, cumin carrots, cabbage, a wild mushroom ravioli and a balsamic jus. The venison was so tender and tasty but the star of this dish was surprisingly the ravioli, the flavour was immense and went beautifully with the meat. For pudding, nothing particularly jumped out at me, but I chose the orange crème brûlée which came with a cardamon biscuit. The brulee was great but the biscuit was nothing special. Unfortunately, the credit card machine wasn’t working and we eventually had to cobble together the small change from our purses the be able to pay for the meal. I’m not sure what would have happened if we hadn’t had enough cash — washing up maybe?! As it happened, we missed the boat(Thames Clipper) due to the problems with the card machine. For this, they lose a star!

Guy Awford seems dedicated to bringing really great food to Greenwich. His other restaurant Inside has been my favourite Greenwich restaurant for years but this has knocked it off the top spot. I visited the restaurant on it’s 3rd night and it was still very much in soft launch phase. However, this just makes it all the more impressive. There was not a lot that I could pick apart. We were even greeted with glasses of Prosecco for being their first booking. The food is pretty standard British but expertly cooked and memorable. Even the bread, served in tiny macaroon sized balls, was pretty unique. My cauliflower soup starter was perfectly seasoned and accompanied by a witty Stilton toastie. My main was the best Fillet steak I’ve had. a wonderful but not overpowering peppery flavour leading to the most tender steak. Desert was an orgasmic lemon tart with a bay leaf flavour ice cream — unusual but delicious. The waiters are obviously still finding their feet but you can tell that they are going to be a great team. Discrete but efficient and they handled one of our party spilling their glass of wine perfectly. Guy has definitely created a restaurant worth visiting Greenwich for.

We visited this place recently on a Friday evening, had a great meal and thoroughly recommend it. Best described as a Gastropub, it is currently undergoing external refurbishment. Inside is a tastefully decorated and spacious dining area, small bar and a couch. A pleasant garden out the back aswell. Atmosphere is suitably relaxed, but service attentive and genuinely helpful. Menu is small, which i find is often an indicator of a considered menu using freshly prepared ingredients. We chose tiger prawns in thai style and a mozzarella, plum tomato and pesto tart as starters. Portions were just right, well presented and food tasted good. The tart was excellent, clearly homemade, and combination of flavours worked well. Mains were simple, but prepared and cooked with care. I had beer battered cod and chips. My partner had steak, chips and salad. To give an idea of the care taken, the tartare sauce was homemade served in its own dish, lemon was wrapped in a bandage to prevent pips escaping on to the plate. The food was excellent. My partners steak was huge and cooked to perfection. The puddings were excellent too. I had a vanilla panna cotta with raspberries. My partner had a warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. Really well presented and again well thought out. The Guidlford Arms is a real hidden gem and a great location to go for a quiet meal with a loved one or a drink with civilised friends(not a rowdy place, decent clientele) Good ales and wine on offer in addition to the food.

More a place to eat than drink. Food was very good when I went and would return. My score based on dining rather than drinking.
