The Kentish Town Fruit Bowl

The fruit is old and off. I brought some apples there and they were rotted through. Ok, maybe it was a one off I thought, and tried them again. However the fruit I brought the second time was tasteless and again a few were bad when cut open. The sales people there are always miserable and dour and act like they are doing you a favour by bothering to serve you. Perhaps being right on top of an underground station and opposite a train line is not a recipe for fresh fruit?

The people working there are incredibly rude, the man is a vicious thug, they make their prices up as they go along and the produce they sell is half rotten. I would never buy from Kentish Town Fruit Bowl.

Any time I’m have a big cooking project, I come to the Kentish Town Fruit Bowl, as I am really in love of a) their selection of fruits & vegetables, b) the quality of their produce, and c) the very reasonable price they charge you for it (I didn’t want to use the word «cheap» as that might give a false impression, but really, that’s what it is!)
There’s always the same lady wearing a range of different heads throughout the year (I especially like the straw-​hat in the summer time) — she’s not the most chatty person, but she’s super fast at her calculations and any supermarket-​cashier could learn a great deal from her!

Love this place. We have shopped there every week for the past few years, always pleased by the quality of the fruit and veg and excellent value for money. The staff are excellent.
If you normally buy some really expensive plastic with some bits of fruit and veg in it, then try this place instead — save £, rubbish and your reduce carbon footprint at the same time

The beautiful girl working here obviously considered handling plums preferable to a career in international modelling. Either that, or she has a peculiar relationship with her colleague, a matron of indeterminate age and a startling collection of inappropriate hats. That aside, this offers a wide selection of good quality fruit and veg. It’s also self-​service, invaluable when weeding out the hairy carrot, black banana, or liquefied grape. Recommended.

‘Get your 5-​a-​day.’ ‘Eat your greens.’ ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away.’ Ok, ok I get the message. Eating fruit and veg is good for you. This we all know, but where to get fairly priced goods is a little less known. Supermarket prices fluctuate like a rubber duck in the Pacific Ocean. This is not good. One week I buy my blackberries for £1.50, a week later they are £3.50. No, no, no!
For realistic prices and that joyous feeling of knowing you are putting your money in a real persons pocket and not simply a corporation, buy your F’s & V’s from Kentish Town Fruit Bowl.
KT Fruit Bowls prices are pretty constant and without fail always cheaper than a supermarket. They sell an excellent array of berries, all your generic fruits and a great selection of veg. In truth you really cannot go wrong.

As you step out of the Kentish Town tube station, the fruit and vegetable stall just on your left is quaintly known as the Fruit bowl. The produce is fresh, cheap and the owners know their stuff. Its beats the main supermarket chains for quality and price hands down. And, as a bonus, you get good advice on what to do with the slightly more exotic varieties you select. I’m yet to find another such user-​friendly fruit and veg stall in London!

It is pretty much what it says on the tin: a fruit shop. A cheap, tasty fruit shop, conveniently right by the tube station, where one can get a bowl of mixed fruit for £1. You wouldn’t expect the selection to be as wide as it is, either — exotic fruit in Kentish Town? Apparently so, and not for the ludicrous prices you’d pay for lychees pretty much anywhere else in London.
There isn’t a whole lot you can say about it, really: ‘cheap and tasty fresh fruit’ pretty much covers it.
