Great atmosphere, although I thought the beer was a bits stale. Fish was fresh chips out of the freezer. A bit of an assortment this place. Although I imagine people return a lot.

A friendly, local pub under the shadow of BT Tower. I came here in the morning and waited till the kitchen opened up at 12pm. The haddock and chips was updated with potato wedges which were goods. The pea mash was not the mushy pea type, but more like a fresher mint version. The batter could’ve been better as it was a little soggy in parts, but overall a good meal.
Service was good at first, but then the bar lady got a bit impatient with our table of indecisive people.
This isn’t the place for chicken wings and nachos. Go to the Tower Tavern for that pub fare. The Lurkin menu leans towards gastro pub.

I also attended the Qype Olympics and had a good night. the function room is ample in size and the staff are friendly. I was impressed by the staff when they let me take my son (10) in there so we could finish our drinks and the Olympics games. It isn’t a standout venue but perfect for the after work tipple and a good old chin wag!

I’ve been here a few times and I’ve really liked it each time! The staff are generally quite helpful and friendly. They have Aspall’s cider on tap which is great for me since I always am disappointed when it’s Strongbow. The food looks fantastic, have only had a taste of a colleague’s bread platter but it tastes pretty good too. The music reminds me of my teenage years (which aren’t too far off), but in a nostalgic way, not a bad way.
