Respite from the rain on another cold and why am I outside when the weather is so miserable? Because its an excuse to drop into another pub and try it out. Reasonable selection of beers and ales and friendly staff once again used to people asking to try before they dive into a pint. We shared some bar nibbles which were nice enough and filling. Perhaps a little greasy but it was the chicken wings. The footy was on and the crowd seemed quite focused on the game. Definitely worth a return visit.

So many places to eat on Goodge Street… so little time. And at times I don’t want a overpriced, understuffed burrito. Or a small container of chinese noodles and vegetables for the ‘bargain’ price of of £6. If I’m paying £10 for a standard-ish lunch it had better be worth it. I just want a pint and some pub grub, either for a hangover-relieving lunch or an early dinner. It’s a Young’s pub, and one with an excellent menu and good service. On my most recent visit I chose a lighter-type main of butternut and spinach wrap, Well made, decent size for a small lunch. As I thought that might not be filling enough, I chose to share a side of sweet potato chips and hand cut big chips between 3 of us. Oh my. A big portion, for less than £4, on Goodge Street? Yes it can be done. See my photo of the sweet potato chips — my big recommendation here. Large, crispy on the outside, not too soft, very well crafted. Between 3 of us we could not finish both bowls(and we’d all ordered sandwiches) …gulp! I wasn’t expecting that. My colleague ordered the posh fish fingers on a ciabatta and was well pleased. It was big and crispy and tasty, good choice. Recommended spot to dive in for lunch. It does however get insanely packed in the evenings, be forewarned.

Admittedly the only reason I was brought here was for the burgers, I don’t think the guys have tried anything else on the menu and after having one I’m not sure why anyone would… The menu includes pub classics — Fish & Chips(£10.50), Steak & Stout Pie(£11.50), Sausage & Mash(£9) etc. but the Proper Burgers section of the menu is where you need to hone in — all served in a brioche bun with lettuce, mayo, ketchup and skinny fries. The guys all went for The One Tun — an 8oz patty, red onion, gherkin, burger relish for £9.25 but I ordered the Fried Chicken burger — Southern style buttermilk chicken breast, red cabbage slaw, hand cut chips(£9.95) and I couldn’t have been happier with my choice. The chicken poked out of both ends of the bun invitingly and was a perfect mix of crispy coating and juicy, tender chicken. The fries were standard and the pot of slaw was so small I also missed it, but I couldn’t have cared less.

I found it to be a friendly space, good for a football game, but the beer was not very interesting, given the competition. A bit bland overall, presumably a corporate pub.

Pretty standard pub, lots of TV’s, and looks kind of like the bar from Cheers. Note to tourists: it closes at 12AM on the dot(like most places in London!) They put chairs on tables all around you and ring a really loud bell to make it known, but I have heard that is the norm in London. There were signs boasting«Quiz» night every Thursday at 8pm which I’m sure could be a randy good time!

Good beer selection, but the staff are surly and unfriendly and there are never enough seats which is annoying. Everytime i go in i have a bad experience-a few years back when the bombs went off in London kindly asked for the bars staff to put the news on and they refused-preferring the football!

The One Tun is a welcoming neighborhood pub, especially for the visiting futbol enthusiast. There are pubs on every street corner in London, but the One Tun is one of the few in central London that you can catch the footy match on one of many screens. Good beer, good company. Spank it!

Came for a trip down memory lane after a few too many years… beer was still good… pub has been modernized. Good for a pint or 3 during the afternoon. watch the people and traffic go by.

Having become almost a regular it’s about time I wrote this place up. It’s good. Not a spectacular pub but really very good at being a pub. Plenty of seats inside a not particularly large pub and friendly, chatty bar staff to get around to your drink service promptly. There are seats and tables out front but not many as there isn’t much pavement to use. A Pub Quiz operates here on Tuesday nights from 8pm and they offer a wonderful drink called ‘Chocolate Stout’. It doesn’t taste much like chocolate which is probably why it’s so nice. So, just a pub but a really good one, TTFN, Ian

In an effort to find a friend a hamburger, we stopped in on this bar for lunch. While she had an apparently good hamburger, my salad took twice as long and the grilled vegtables were part lukewarm, part stone cold as though the chef couldn’t decide how they were supposed to serve it. It was the worst, most digusting salad and when I mentioned it, I was told that it was the way it was supposed to be. That and it also took doubly as long to get a sparkling water. I just don’t understand — order a beer and burger and you get instant fast service. Order a salad and a water and it’s like you are a leper. I would recommend avoiding this place.

It’s a pub. Nothing about it really stands out one way or another. It’s nice that they open it up in the good weather to get some air flowing through, and certainly there’s space for a bigger group to sit together. The bartender was very nice to us and when he realized he was out of teabags, told us to take a seat and he’d bring the tea out to us when he could find a gap in the customers to go get them. He was quite sweet about it, really. I’m not aching to go back, but if I’m in the area and need a place to sit and chill, I wouldn’t be opposed to stopping back there. As long as the weird guy who insisted my friends were Americans(sorry buddy, one was South American, the other was German) while drunkenly making phone calls at our table doesn’t come back…

Here I am, in the One Tun enjoying me some free wifi, watching England get hammered by the Aussies in the first test. It is a saturday, and fairly quiet. The food was basic but tasty and the staff are really friendly. I have a table and a comfy chair by a massive TV and when I go to the bar to order my Guinness, the guy says he will bring it over to me when it settles. And he does. I watch the Cricket on sky and have the bbc and times online websites open on my laptop to study the hawkeye analysis of each over, each ball. I should do this every Saturday. Looks like they have a karaōke machine in the corner too, it wont be used today though, phew. I hate karaōke. 4 stars on Unilocal = Yay! I’m a fan. I am a fan of this experience. Yay.

Pretty good pub. Considering my friend and i have worked in the area for a pretty long time, we were shocked to realise we’d never been in here. Tis quite nice. The pubs in here are pretty standard, but here’s what I liked: 1. The rose was nice. 2. It’s pretty big — although there were no seats we had standing space, something that’s rare in pubs around this area. Things I didn’t like: 1. The teeny tiny ladies loo. Waste of time, and the basin is in the same poky room so you can’t even do your make up. It’s a pub in town you can get a drink in. I’d come back, but I won’t shout about it. Amazing what an atmosphere can do for a pub, but this one is nothing to write home about.

Was never quite sure what to make of this pub. Used to be a local that I barely went to, but I wasn’t sure why. Recently I stopped in to watch some football and as I sat there with a prime view and a nice pint of Youngs bitter in my hand I started wondering if I had missed out on a nice local. Then an off duty bartender stopped by and completely ruined the experience. He was one of those people who just can’t stop talking and whats worse he had an incredibly loud voice. He started laughing and joking(is it still joking, if its not funny?) with the on duty staff at such a volume to drown out the football. When he realized the football was on he started yelling ‘boooring’ and tried to start a campaign to change the channel. Even though he failed, I had to leave at half time, I couldn’t stand it any more. I know he wasn’t on duty but I’m sure if I was that obnoxious out of hours in my place of work I wouldn’t get away with it. Ah well, pub staff tend not to stick around too long. I’ll drop by again in 6 months and see if maybe I was missing out after all. And maybe change my rating.

Ok, just ok. This pub looks like they tried to give it a modern look but they could only afford to buy some«minimalist» style. The one thing is that it’s really specious, which works well if you want to meet with a big group. The drinks are reasonably priced. The selection of beers is far from exotic; they serve the typical Fosters, Kronemberg, Heineken. But the wait staff is really friendly and efficient. If you go at say 5 or 6pm you will find it packed of business types mostly.
