Great place in Brockley for food, drinks and chilling with friends. Service is definitely laid back. Other reviews say the menu changes daily but I always go on a Wednesday and it seems not to change much from week to week. Make Wednesday the new Thursday or something like that.

I usually go to the Quiz on a Sunday night here with a couple of friends. The quiz is always fun and always pulls a crowd. You want a fun pub quiz that isn’t full of quiz obsessives and proffesh teams then head here. What is my main gripe is the table service. Now, it is all fine and well if the staff we actually on it and came to your table. don’t have a tiny bar where I can’t order just a drink to never come to my table. What then flips this is you then have to pay at the bar. It really doesn’t make a lot of sense. It is a good place, nice addition to Brockley with lovely food it is just the logic that lets it down.

Best cooked breakfast around and fantastic service. The orchard make many of their own ingredients, including the ketchup, baked beans, and bread. My partner and I ordered one each of the veggie and meat options and shared. Everything was cooked to perfection and served by a by a very helpful and knowledgeable waitress. We have also been before for dinner and always had a great service. Would thoroughly recommend!

Was in here last night and came because I’d heard there was a quiz night on. Didn’t expect to be enticed into eating but the table next to me had ordered the steak bavette and it looked so great I had to buy one. I have to say it was quite possibly the most tasty thing I’ve ever eaten. Amazing food. I was told that the place is normally comfortably busy throughout the week and that it’s a cool local place to eat to great food and have a glass or ten of lovely wine. The quiz is on Sundays only and is a real laugh. Definitely try it out as people really get involved and there’s a nice touch at the end of the night where everyone gets the opportunity to win a bottle of champagne. A wonderful close to a very fun evening.

Had dinner here with 4 friends on a very busy night. Service was absolutely impeccable, food was innovative, delicious and perfectly cooked. Mouthwatering desserts and drinks to die for — espresso martini and a range of special gins. Love this place:):)

this is my favourite place to go for dinner at the moment. the food is absolutely delicious, super fresh and changes all the time. i’ve always gone for one of the fish dishes when visiting and i am always delighted. friends and family have opted for the steak time after time and it is beautifully cooked and extremely reasonably priced given the portion and quality. the desserts are AMAZING. i am not a dessert girl, but i cannot come here without getting one. try one of their steamed puddings — OHMYGAAAAAAAD. too good. the wine list is great, the beers are a mixture of the usuals plus more interesting local brews, and the cocktails are interesting and extremely tasty. the atmosphere is relaxed, and the service friendly but unobtrusive. the first time i visited i had flowers with me, and they brought me a vase with water without me even asking. a super nice touch! they are also dog friendly, which is really important to me given that my wee frenchie is my constant shadow. they love him in here and couldn’t be sweeter to him. i will be returning many, many times i am sure.

Finally my husband agrees with me — this place is great. The steak we had on Saturday night convinced him. He is actually still talking about. We were only here for a quick dinner before heading off to the movies but we all wanted the steak. so not the quick bite we had planned. They still got us in & out in just over an hour which was pretty good. It got 4 instead of 5 stars because the waiting staff didn’t like it when we told them that we wanted to be out by 9ish… and they said our table was booked for 8.15pm when they told at booking time that we needed to be there by 7.45/8pm and to order by 8.15 so that they could reuse the table for a later booking. The food outshone this blip & we’ll be going back

I’d heard good things about this place, even from those who don’t live in Brockley. After a roast lunch down the road we wondered up here for a spot of dessert(my lunch pals say we should have just come here to begin with…). It was warm, cosy, friendly and very relaxing. We only ordered puds, and my brownie was ridiculously good, despite reminding the staff it the menu says it should have come with ice cream. It was busy on a Sunday afternoon(about 3pm) and we’d nabbed the last seats. Lots of other groups stopping by for lunch and drinks. I’d love to come back for a proper lunch or dinner here. We each had a glass of Malbec and it was ridiculously good!

The Orchard is always a good choice for a nice lunch or even dinner. The place has a certain unique ability to make you feel at home. The staff also has part in that with their welcoming and warm attitude. Lots of good food and wine can be ordered.

I have lived in Brockley for a few years and have been a regular at the Orchard for the past 18 months or so. I must say, they have really let standards slip over the last few months. There has been a change in staff and there appears to be a surly, unhelpful feeling amongst them. I cannot help but think they sorely need to employ hospitality professionals as opposed to the assorted students the currently have. A good example of this poor attitiude would be the way they aggressively throw people out at closing time, constantly referring to everyone as ‘guys’ regardless of age or gender. Quite patronising, especially after paying over the odds for simple fare. The Orchard charge West End prices for average food and sloppy service. In fairness, there are one or two good individuals but that is the problem, there is no consistency there. They are coasting along in the full knowledge that there is no alternative in Brockley. Yet.

Great food with their Eggs Benedict being my all time favourite dish. Typical English food at its finest. The Orchard is definitely a must for those who live in and around the Brockley area and with the station so close there is no excuse. Staff are very friendly and down to earth, happy to help with all your queries Very nice ambience with many locals, there are lots of places to go and have a cosy time without being forgotten by the excellent waiting staff. Perfect for you vegetarians as the menu has a huge variety of vegetarian options that will definitely be to your liking.

Great in the afternoon when it is not rammed. I enjoy going there for brunch/lunch — the Eggs Benedict is AMAZING. Great décor and nice atmosphere, the staff are smart and the vibe is relaxed without being lazy. It is somewhere you want to spend time, though in the evenings this makes it very busy and crowded. The food is simple, classic and very well done. Never heard anyone complain about anything here.

Sad to read the review below it doesn’t sound like you had a good experience, but I don’t think this place deserves 1 star based purely on a bad coffee. If you want great coffee, try Browns by the station. The Orchard is a bar/restaurant, and a very good one at that. I haven’t experienced any cockiness of staff in the 3 or 4 times I’ve been, though they are fairly relaxed with their customers normally in a good way! This place really was a ray of light when it first opened. People in the area had lacked a decent place to sit down and have good food for a while. Toads Mouth Too across the road was hit & miss, and the only other option was the Wetherspoons fine if you don’t mind that, but not everyone’s cup of tea. The place is relaxed and unpretentious. The tables are tightly packed in, and the lowish ceilings mean it feels quite cosy. They always have some decent beers on draft, and the food is a cut above the average but still unfussy and good value. My criticisms are that at times it’s a bit chaotic(it’s a victim of its own success), and the food quality can vary not all dishes are equal!

The Orchard is one of Brockley’s cosier spots for a drink, meal or free wifi session. At the bar they sell wine, lager and Freedom ale among other drinks. Their kitchen menu includes a variety of brunches and predominantly vegetarian food. In the evenings the lights dim and out come the candles, making for a very chilled out atmosphere for an evening drink. One of the first venues to check out for new arrivals to Brockley.

The Orchard’s been a fantastic addition to Brockley. Great place for a drink, with a guest cask ale and good winelist. And food is great too, with good ol’ roasts at th weekend to continental café style food every day. Nice relaxed atmosphere and really friendly staff. Décor good too.

This is a farily new bar + kitchen in Brockley. The food is simple but really great — I tried meat, fish and veggie dishes, and everything was ok. Plus, prices are very good. A really nice place, definitely worth a visit.
