The Rathbone is a comfortable, intimate, boutique style hotel, located off Charlotte Street within the heart of London’s West End in a location now fashionably known as NOHO.

Around us are some of London’s best restaurants and bars so the hardest choice is choosing where to go. We also offer our guests a 10% discount at a few restaurants in the local area.

We have a great lounge bar (open to the public until 11pm) where our guests can relax and enjoy a drink before going out or after dinner.

Our staff are always on hand to help with all your needs and our aim is to make sure that you enjoy your stay in our wonderful city.

History

Established in 1970.

The Rathbone Hotel is owned and operated by Carnarvon Hotels, a family owned group of hotels established in the 1960’s.

Good location, really friendly staff, but that’s about it. My shower kept turning off when I was in it and I’d have to finish washing with my sink. They fixed it right away so no big deal, but then when I came back to my room after housekeeping «cleaned» it, the bedding had a big, old blood stain on it. It was on the down comforter, covered by the duvet so I don’t know if they thought someone wouldn’t notice or what, but I sure did. Gross. Ordered room service one night and the food wasn’t great. Didn’t try the actual restaurant, maybe that’s better.

Our sheets had what looked like dried period blood stains on them. 3 good puddles, the largest being maybe half the size of my palm. When we called to have our sheets changed, they came and went 3 different times before they finally got us a clean sheet that fit the bed. The people that came up to change the sheet didn’t work in housekeeping and weren’t totally sure how to make the bed.
They took our hand towels and didn’t put them back in the room after the first night.
They also took our bathroom mat and didn’t put it back until we called and asked for them to send another one back.
Room key randomly stopped working on the 3rd day and when we went down to get it fixed, they just took the keys, asked what room we were in, and said they should work now. Didn’t even bother to verify we were actually in the room we said we were before giving us keys to the room.
Wifi is expensive. Room is tiny. The one elevator is also tiny.

Great location, clean, and safe. Desk staff and concierge felt hesitant, lacking experience. Restaurants and bars immediately across the street so if you want or expect quiet, request a room in the back of the hotel. For breakfast, recommend going across the street to Lantana. Rooms were very, very well serviced. Tube two blocks away. Surrounded by cool restaurant seen.

We stayed here four nights in December, 2012, and I was very happy with our choice. If you don’t want to stay in a hostel, but don’t want to spend a fortune either, this place is perfect. It was totally clean, they gave us big fresh towels everyday, there was always hot water in the shower, and it was quiet enough to actually get some sleep. They have a bar and kitchen that’s open all night, and an elevator. They provided a hair dryer and tea. And, it’s smack dab in the middle of two tube stations, making travel easy. Plus, there are tons of restaurants just steps away. Overall, great experience!

This place is great.
I stayed here for two weeks straight while on a business trip to London. The rooms are small, but about average size for London. Some people on the other review sites complain about the noise outside. This really isn’t as much of a problem as they make it out to be. If you’re worried about noise, ask for a courtyard facing room. They’re almost silent. Also, I recommend getting a room on a lower floor. The elevator is slow, and the rooms start on what americans would call the third floor, so you’ll be climbing a lot of stairs or waiting forever for the elevator.
The staff was great. Very accommodating. I had to change my itinerary several times and each time it was pretty effortless.
The rooms were very clean. The beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was good.
The wifi is expensive. If you’re going to be in London for more than a few days, I’d recommend buying a prepaid cellular internet device.
The location is great. It’s within quick walking distance to several underground stops as well as SOHO.

I thought this hotel was quite lovely. Comfortable bed, spacious bathrooms, and windows that actually open a bit to let some air in. The hotel feels well decorated, and is right in the Soho area, so perfect for location, food, shops, etc.

Nice, traditional business class hotel on a quiet street within walking distance to West End theatres and just off Charlotte street, home to many good restaurants and pubs. The hotel has a comfortable and cozy lobby and bar with free wifi. The Rathbone is a stone’s throw from Goodge Street Tube (Tottenham is close as well) and a 10£ taxi ride from Paddington station with very efficient and highly recommended train service to London Heathrow. Avoid outrageous taxi fare from airport to central London.

cadre vieille angleterre. Hors de prix !!! chambre double-​junior minuscule, service pas extra. Isolation des fenêtres et literie vraiment pas top.
Donc un rapport qualité qui laisse vraiment à désirer.
En revanche, vous êtes très proche à pied de la plupart des sites les plus connus = non négligeable.
Juste à côté de charlotte street et de ses restaurants.

Nettes Hotel, gediegen eingerichtete Zimmer, mit der Möglichkeit zum Kaffee– und Teekochen. Frühstücksraum mit gutem Continental breakfast (british breakfast gegen Aufpreis), 24-​Stunden-​Zimmerservice. Sehr freundliches und äußerst hilfsbereites Personal !
Ich finde ein gutes Preis-​Leistungs-​Verhältnis, wenn man vorher den Preis gut verhandelt hat ;-)
Klar, das Hotel ist kein Design-​Hotel und ist auch etwas in seiner Zeit stehen geblieben und Klimaanlagengeräusche sollte man in kauf nehmen können. Dafür liegt das Hotel aber perfekt in einer sehr beliebten und zentralen Gegend von London.
zu Fuß erreicht man Oxford Street, Theatre Land, Covent Garden oder Soho.
Die U-​Bahnstationen «Goodge Street» ist zu fuß ca. 5 min entfernt.
Viele Geschäfte, Restaurants und viele Pubs findet man direkt um die Ecke (bzw. ein Pub ist fast direkt gegenüber) !
Bis zum Flughafen London Heathrow sind es ca. 60 min mit der Tube. (oder schneller über Paddington station mit dem Heathrow Express ca 30 min) Fazit: Von mir vier Sterne für ein ausreichendes, gutgelegendes Hotel für ein Wochenende in London.

Last summer, I spent two nights at this cozy little hotel right in the heart of Soho. The single room I had was not huge but very comfortable. I was tickled by the fact that when I ordered room-​service «tea» after getting in from LHR that it came on the fancy china with savories, scones and sweets!
The hotel itself is in a brilliant location in Soho, literally steps away from shops and dozens of restaurants (many of them trendy or had outdoor seating, perfect for the estival season). I originally chose this hotel because I wanted to hoof it around Soho and be within walking distance to my favourite record store (Sounds of the Universe). For that I couldn’t have chosen a better location.
I’ll most definitely be back when I’m in London next! 4 Stars!
