We came in here as it’s next door virtually to the North China restaurant. This is the other JDW in the Ealing/Acton area. It’s perhaps slightly different to normal JDW as the pub on this site has always been called the Red Lion and Pineapple(there is a stone on and pineapple on the roof). It’s quite an interesting space as the pub is on a corner and is curved. In the centre lies a curved bar that extends right round the pub meaning that there are two distinct spaces in the pub at either end. It’s been around for a long time and is therefore a little worn around the edges, but is nonetheless fine for it. There are other pubbing options along Acton High Street, though none as reasonably priced. Nobody could accuse this place of being hipster so it may not appeal to everyone, but for the usual JDW fair it’s fine, though I would prefer the Sir Michael Balcom in central Ealing if I were staying for an evening.

The Red Lion and Pineapple is your standard Wetherspoons Bar/Restaurant out in Acton. It has the same menu you’d find at most Wetherspoons which is decent. The place overall feels pretty old and tired, the staff seem bored and like they don’t want to be there. A lot of the regular patrons seem to use it more as their local and don’t take too kindly to any excess noise. The food itself is pretty decent but it would never be my first choice…

What can say, if you haven’t got a lot of money in your pocket then this pub is a safe bet. I have been a dozen times to eat and drink and from my experience, I would stick to the burger and chips. I have been on curry night and it was DIRE to say the least(the curry tasted like a frozen £1 meal) and the onion bhajis are always burnt(I have tried them 3 times on separate occasions) I makes no difference. It is never full so if your looking to party then this is not the place but if it’s to meet up with friends for a chat and a bite to eat then go for it.

I suppose the fact that this place was half empty on a Saturday night says it all it seemed a convenient enough place to meet up with a crowd of friends who all live in West London. And sat in our corner we were happy enough until the air conditioning was turned on full blast(in winter!). The service behind the bar was rather varied, the only outstanding member of staff turned out to be on trial oh dear. None of this would have mattered and I probably wouldn’t even have bothered writing a review had it not been for the rude end to an otherwise pleasant evening. We all understand British licencing laws and that staff deserve a break, but nothing justifies rudeness. I have been turfed out of pubs on countless occasions, and the firm but friendly approach generally works well especially if combined with a sense of humour. The most interesting thing about this pub is its name.

What an old man’s pub! At 4pm on a Saturday, it was one of the quietest places in London with a good helping of gray bearded men sitting and having somber looking conversations. Oh and then there was our group. Sitting in a booth? check! Having a conversation? check! Quiet? Umm… not so much. Living up on Aussie stereotype of loud and drunk? Oh hell yeah! I somehow doubt we were very popular with the regulars there and it took some smooth talking to persuade the barman that the girls weren’t too drunk to have another drink. Although thinking back I have absolutely no idea why he believed us when we were being held up by the bar. That being said, they have a great selection of ales on tap, and the pitchers of jaegermonster(vodka, jaeger, and monster energy drink) went down like sweet treats. The place is massive and great for groups and the central bar does look quite awesome for a party place. It’s right across the street from the Redback(our initial destination but was closed despite a sign on it saying open from noon…). Overall, not going back just because me and alcohol doesn’t equal quiet, but if you want a somber chat or fancy trying a new ale or two with a mate, it’s a good place to consider. Oh…and for a £1 you can upgrade your drink from a single to a double…

Poorly run Wetherspoons pub. It has possibly the worst level of bar service I’ve encountered in this chain — frequently has only one poor girl with a minimal grasp of English trying to cope with lunchtime orders single handedly. It’s cheap beer attracts the local aging professional drinkers, so the place has a generally shabby, unwashed and sticky-carpet ambience, which may appeal to some I suppose. Its polar opposite, the pricey and yuppiefied«Chatsworth» is directly over the road if you aren’t amongst those who find such things a bonus in a pub. Standard Wetherspoons food available, all out of the microwave but usually eatable. Small outside seating area makes it more bearable in the summer.

Nice pub with lots of space on the inside and a central bar. One of the first pubs I went to when I came to England. Drank some Purple Rain with a new friend of mine. Bat staff was cool and the drinks were inexpensive. It was a well presented pub but Red Lions generally are. To have a nice drink n chat with a friend this is a good pub to go to. Haven’t tried the food though.

As this is a Wetherspoons, you’ll only normally get me in here(ar any other JDW’s) for their real ale festival which is happening this year from October 30th to November 16th. Loads of Good beer, reasonably priced and well looked after.

Giant, soulless Wetherspoons chain pub. Full of fruit machines, lagers, photo-signs advertising fish ‘n’ chip specials, and mass-produced faux-rustic furniture. It is large, though, and has a nice exterior on a rounded point at an intersection.

As with all Weatherspoons pubs this pub has a good selection of cheap drinks, and regular guest ales. The usual curry, steak nights etc. This pub has a nice, but small, beer garden at the back with is a great place to go on a summers evening for a few beers and a feed without spending a fortune. The garden has gas heaters!
