Description

Specialties

The Underground Cookery School London was set up in the summer of 2003 to offer fun and informal cookery events as a way of learning uncomplicated, delicious, contemporary cooking. All classes are suitable for beginners as well as more adventurous cooks.

We are specifically designed as a corporate team building /private party /hen night event, located next to Old Street Tube (Northern Line) in the city.

On arrival you’ll grab a delicious homemade canapé, enjoy plenty of wine and with the rest of the party make a three-course meal under our instruction.

A cool Hoxton Brasserie vibe follows, where our laid-back team serve the meal you have just created together with lovely wines. All alcohol, from the moment you arrive is included in the package.

History

Established in 2003.

Over 10 year’s experience of running fun-filled cookery sessions with a relaxed atmosphere.

Meet the Business Owner

Matt K.

Business Owner

Despite working in some of London’s top restaurants like The River Café, The Ivy and Pont De La Tour, Chef and Patron Matt Kemp considers himself self-taught.

He started following recipes from an early age. And like everyone, started with pretty mixed results; ‘I ruined everything I tried to cook for the first time! But I always learned from my mistakes.‘

Training under 3-star chef, Michael Guérard, in France gave Matt the best technical training in the business. And he now offers classes that are both hugely informative and great fun.

With his home grown experience he also knows what it’s like to be hopeless in the kitchen, and has a few tricks up his sleeve for when things go wrong.

Hence the school’s motto; ‘Everything is salvageable!’.
