Popped in for a lazy Sunday Roast. Yes, I know, we could have gone to the Red Lion, but I’d spent a bomb over the weekend and needed something cheap cheap cheap. So we went to The Walnut Tree For a start, we waited around 40 minutes for our roasts to come out. A lot of the tables were full, but I’ve definitely been in busier Spoons and still been served within 20 minutes. The atmosphere was a mixture of young families, older people and the odd group of youngsters drinking double vodka and cokes. ON A SUNDAY. Insane. When our roasts did appear, the lamb(mine) wasn’t too bad, but the chicken(not mine, but I tried some) was disappointingly dry. The roast potatoes were a bit on the hard side, instead of fluffy inside like a good roastie should be. Although the mash was surprisingly pretty decent. The vegetables were fine… but honestly, they’re probably not the most important part of a Sunday dinner, are they? The Walnut Tree is okay for a cheap pint, but there are much nicer pubs in the area that are worth paying a little bit more for.

This place is your typical Wetherspoons establishment. There doesn’t seem to be any order to the place, you just go in, grab a table and order at the bar. The menu is the same at any other Wetherspoons you’d go into across London. The food comes out reasonably quickly and tastes okay but it’s absolutely nothing special. The place is a bit run down and feels like a perfect place for retirees to drink the day away. There’s nothing particularly special about it but if you want a quick, stock standard, relatively cheap place to eat this is one of the better places to go in Leytonstone.

Interesting pub. Can’t really decide after one visit, is it 2 stars or is it 3 – 4 stars. From my experience, I’ll go with lowest rating review by agreeing to his statement about dodgy weird crowd presents in this pub. No problems what so ever, but just few alcoholics, few degraded people. We sat outside, which was nice. Beer prices were not expensive. Interior was big, but not in its best shape. There’s a little book shelf corner beside entrance, if you fancy reading :-) gave a little charm to the pub. I’d not go back there, tho. This is locals pubs. The end.

The people who drink here tend to be a cried I’d rather not hang out with. Families and drunk older men. Good prices though. As any wetherspoons.

Typical, bad Leytonstone pub. Pretty pikey and uneventful. Food bad. Beer OK. Staff not too bright. The only selling point is that is a big pub and the beer is very cheap.

A great branch of the Wetherspoons chain of pubs. Quite large airy well-kept pub with a wide range of customers. More lively in the evenings but you can still find quiet table booths at the back. Comfortable place for a good cheap meal, well cooked at great prices and good service. There are tables outside but as it is on a fairly busy junction probably only worth the car fumes if you are adding cigarette smoke to your lungs as well. Good for coffee or lunch during the day as well

Sticky tables and poor service. Really worn down and could do with a complete make over. There are better pubs around although if your looking for a cheap(but not very tasty) eat then I suppose its just about okay.

There is only one Walnut Tree and it is owned by the Wetherspoons chain. That said it is one of the fastest to serve both drinks and food. The tables are a bit squashed together in the front but cosier booths at the back. Cleaner than The George at Wanstead which is owned by the same chain.

Nice, Spacious pub that serves real ale!!! It’s a friendly pub with a nice mix of customers, so no one should feel out of place. Food is also served here. The pub is very close to Leytonstone tube station with good connections to east london and the surrounding Essex borders.
