Last night, I watched Tottenham Hotspur beat west ham two nil, and I watched it at the Welcome Inn in Lordship Lane. I have been here a few times only, and that has only ever been for football. It is a small place and can be easily missed and even mistaken for something else like a social club, because you cannot see through the windows. Walking in is not the most exciting of sight, it is a very dated pub, and not much money has been put in for a long while. But as for watching football, they have a bulky TV on a stand at the entrance, and if you walk along the side of the bar, there is another small space with a plasma. It is full of the regulars and every time I have been, I have seen the same faces. Outside there is a small bench where you can have your drink and smoe or get some air, so ther have utilised the minimal amounts of space that they have. Last night it rained a little and they had the shelter over the bench. Though the pub comes under the Wood Green postal code, it is still just a 20 minute walk away from White Hart Lane stadium so there are mostly Tottenham fans in there. Drinks are as cheap as you can find and the staff are really friendly. Whenever I have been, there has been this Turkish guy who has been in charge, but that doesn’t reflect on the punters.
