This review is just for the grocery/supermarket part. This place isn’t as comprehensive as the nearby Hana supermarket near Goodge St. But what they do have is pretty good, and the pork mandu(Korean dumplings) are amazing!

It’s rare that you hear«Korean restaurant» and«value for money» in the same sentence, but Tomoko is both and in central London! The food is okay Korean food, no better or worse than anything on Tottenham Court Road, but at 6.50 for most of the mains it’s a pretty good deal(for Korean food). No liquor license but they will let you BYO if you ask. We got out of there with two mains, apps and booze from next door for under £20. A steal!

I’ve been observing this Korean restaurant/supermarket set up over the last few months on Charing Cross Road. It has been a little confusing as to what the final shop was going to be or to sell but I think it’s pretty much finished now. The whole business is a mixture. Outside, they have fast food stalls set up to offer pre-packaged Korean food. There is some sushi but I’m fascinated by all the other goodies but I have no idea what they are! Venture in a little further into the shop itself and you have Korean foodstuffs — fresh meat on one side and grocery items on the other. Venture in a bit further and there’s a proper sit down restaurant. I love new foods and cuisines but can’t help feeling a little lost here at the moment. I’m auditioning for a Korean Unilocal buddy to join and guide me as I dine and shop here!
