Tower Bridge Exhibition

This was disappointing. I thought the glass floor extended further but it’s only one section in the center that is glass. The view looking down isn’t astounding either. As you walk across the bridge, there are many images of other bridges across the world along with history.

This attraction might be a little too hyped up. There were bits and pieces that were interesting but overall it wasn’t worth the £9 entrance fee. The glass walkways are a little scary if heights make you nervous but otherwise the best part of the whole attraction. We went and learned a little but we could have skipped the tour and been just fine as well.

London has it’s fair share of overpriced tourist attractions, but we were pleased to find out that the tower bridge exhibition is not one of them.
For «only» 9 pounds you get to go up the bridge, see the exhibition in tower bridge, take a walk on the glass floor on the bridge (scary!) and also see the engine room.
Even if you only go up to the exhibition or only visit the engine room, the price is absolutely worth it and it’s not something you should miss while visiting London!

No, it hasn’t been around as long as the Tower of London.
Yes, it is frequently thought of as THE London Bridge.
No, the bridge isn’t raised very often.
Yes, it does have a tourist-​y feel to it.
Having said all that…
It is still very, very cool!
Save some time in your day after — or before — visiting the Tower of London to swing over to check out the Tower Bridge. You will not be disappointed.

I found the price (9GBP) to be high for what you got, a stroll of the elevated walkway and a view of the bridge’s inner workings. As a technophile I found it somewhat interesting, my wife and daughters, eh not so much.

I didn’t loooove the exhibition so i cannot rave about it; however, Tower Bridge was an experience i would recommend while in London — im just not sure it would beat out other things that the city has to offer…
While walking across the bridge, there are many large blown up images of other bridges from all over the world with snippets of history and architecture. That being said, if you are an architect — DO NOT miss the exhibit. However, if you are just looking to do cool London things — i would recommend a full day at Tower of London just right across the way at the bridge’s expense. I made it in and out of the bridge and its exhibits (including the walk up to the top) in an hour and im the type of girl who can spend an entire day in a museum, usually purchase the audio guide and read a book or two about what i’m about to experience.

This is my favorite daytime attraction in London! As iconic as the British Parliament and the London Eye, the Tower Bridge is yet another recognizable symbol for the British capital. If you didn’t witness it, you probably didn’t know that it’s also a movable bridge!
Constructed in the late 1800s, the Tower Bridge was built as both a bascule (movable bridge) and a suspension bridge which the cables are linked to the namesake towers. The walkways between the towers were meant for pedestrians when the bridge was up, but because of the hassle that involved moving up and then down, people rather wait for the bridge to go down again. Hence, the walkway was virtually abandoned… until it became a tourist attraction!
The walkway exhibit shows the history of the Tower Bridge with its facts and data and the roster of impressive bridges around the world. Aside from the great view of the Thames east and west of the bridge, a small part of the walkway floor is also glass!
Your admission also includes the engine room that has an imitation engine, which shows how the drawbridge works, so you can see that aside from being a beautiful icon, Tower Bridge is also an engineering fest!
This is a quick stop that can be finished in an hour or less for only £9, but it is nonetheless a site that I would highly recommend visiting as a London tourist especially before or after your Tower of London trip!

Walked across this lovely bridge coming from the tower of london to tate modern. Great view all the way across.

The Tower Bridge is just a short walk from the Tower of London. Since we got into London a little late and many of the museums and touristy things close around 4 or 5 we hurriedly made our way over to the Tower Bridge. The bridge is well maintained and brilliantly painted in a bright blue color and gold on the outside. It’s actually really nicely decorated. The bridge is a working bridge so hundreds or even thousands of cars pass over it every day and sometimes the bridge goes up to let boats pass.
We used the London pass to get in and skipped the line and take the elevator up to the main floor. There are informational signs and interactive media all over the place and staff available for commentary. In both towers there are sections cut in the floor made of glass where you can gaze down at the cars below or whatever else may be passing by. Everyone seemed to want to lay down on the floor and take a photo. It wasn’t overly crowded at all anyway in either of the towers which helped us to enjoy the experience more. We were able to get almost a full panoramic view of downtown London and all the key sites. I wasn’t overly impressed though by the whole experience. Granted it’s a big touristy thing as well as historical, but I just didn’t have my socks knocked off.
Someone noted to get the London pass. Really make your choice wisely with the London Pass because we got the 3 day pass with the Oystercard and I will say the Oystercard (transportation card for the London transportation system) was one of the best parts. A lot of the museums have odd hours or short hours or aren’t open on certain days or are far away from downtown where you have to take a train which takes time out of the day. So unless you plan your day just right, you might not be able to get to more than 5 – 8 places in a day. London Pass has hundreds of locations but you really probably won’t make it to at least half of them and the pass itself is somewhat expensive. Maybe pick the places that you want to see and see how much financially it costs to go to those sites. Plus, most of the art & history museums are free in London.

Although the Tower Bridge is stunning to look at from the outside, you should definitely do the experience.
To get to the top, you can either wait for the elevator or take the stairs. I decided to take the stairs to get a little workout in lol It was only about a couple minute walk up but I wouldn’t recommend it if you get tired fast
When you get to the top, you can sit down and watch a video that describes the designing and building of the Tower Bridge.
Next, you start the walk across. The walk has signs and pictures of the history of the bridge and how it stands today. The coolest part, besides the view of the city, is the glass floor. You can see straight down which was cool. Some people were scared but trust me, it’s completely safe.
When you finish the bridge, head to the railings by the road which is a nice picture spot to take of you and the bridge.

Zur Tower Bridge muss man denke ich nicht nicht mehr viel sagen. Sie ist DAS Londoner Wahrzeichen. Ein Pflichtbesuch bei jedem London-​Aufenthalt. Ob man nun die volle Tower-​Bridge-​Experience mit Museumsbesuch bucht oder mit erlebt wie sich die Brücke öffnet um große Schiffe durchzulassen — diese Sehenswürdigkeit ist bei Tag und Nacht empfehlenswert. Neuerdings gibt es ein ganz spezielles Highlight — ein gläserner Boden zwischen den Türmen gibt dem ganzen Erlebnis noch einen speziellen Kick und einen einzigartigen Blick auf den Brückentrubel. Das werd ich beim nächsten London-​Besuch auf jeden Fall ausprobieren.

There’s over 300 reviews already… I’ll just say £9 is a bit excessive for something that only takes 30min to visit, though its much nicer than my native San Diego’s boring Coronado Bridge… but before you visit…

We were here back in June this year (2015). IMO, this was one of the best parts of our London trip. Admission was cheap compared with other excursions in London (£9). It was fun climbing up to the exhibition and the view was good. The glass floor was fun.
We had a good time checking out the engine room and such. It was so cool seeing London from the top of the iconic Tower Bridge. Strongly recommended

Must visit attraction! It’s £9 to go up to the walkway but free to walk in the lower bridge where the cars are passing! Very crowded but people are quite friendly and may help you take pictures.

Londons schönstes Bauwerk? Es ist schon ein «W-​o-​w» mit seiner Architektur — und es war das erste, was wir bei unserer Tour durch London gesehen und wahrgenommen haben am frühen Morgen.
Für unseren «One-day-in-London”-Trip war die Tower Bridge leider «etwas» weiter weg als alles andere, was wir gesehen haben, so dass wir nicht die nötige Zeit hatten es wirklich zu genießen. Der nächste Trip führt gaaanz sicher länger hierher und in die Umgebung.
Ein «Must have» auf der London-​Liste — auch wenn man sagt: Kenn ich ja von Postkarten. ;) In Natura sieht sie ganz sicher imposanter aus.

There are a few bridges in London. This is the most beautiful bridge!
Definitely have to see it at night! The lighting on the bridge is so gorgeous. Great photo opportunity!
Next to the bridge is the Tower of London. Totally can spend the whole afternoon

I was able to get some good pics on a fittingly overcast day. The Tower Bridge has a lot of history around it. And, it’s absolutely beautiful. Why don’t they make structures like this anymore? Such detail and craftsmanship.
It is situated in the middle section of London and offers terrific westerly views of the River Thames as well as the Tower of London.
London is a terrific city to walk around, but it’s important to note that if you decide to fit in all of the touristy landmarks, it’s a pretty significant walk from Big Ben to the bridge. I would recommend taking a bus tour, which will take you as far as Tower Bridge to the east and Westminster to the west, as well as the arts district to the north.

For my 200^th review I thought why not write about the most iconic landmark in the world!!!
As a child going on school trips this was an event, as an adult you got used to and the excitement wore off, but now as a cyclist to cycle through this bridge and to look above and see the amazing architecture its just… Glorious!!!

Gigante, alto, bello, refinado. Con parques geniales en cada lado, frente a tower hill y lleno de turistas por todos lados sacando fotos.
Y sí, vale la pena sacar mil. Hay bocha mías subidas acá.
No se si de día o de noche es más lindo. Pero no me canso de verlo. Especialmente lindo desde el lado de london bridge. Y especialmente lindo desde la southwalk a la noche para pasear tomando algo de la mano de alguna señorita.

Um dos melhores pontos turísticos da cidade, acho que só perde para o Big Ben! A ponte sobre o rio Tâmisa é um ponto de encontro de turistas e londrinos que nos dias de tempo bom, vão curtir o dia. Ao da Tower Bridge há muitas opções turistas, como a Torre de Londres, a prefeitura, as muralhas antigas da cidade, enfim… programa é o que não falta. Atravessam diariamente a ponte milhares de pessoas, que podem visitar também A Tower Bridge Exhibition que conta a história da ponte e que permite ao visitante uma experiência sobre uma passarela de observação.

A very enjoyable attraction for both Brits and tourists alike! It’s only 9 pounds to enjoy the walkways above the bridge and learn a lot about the history and the design of the bridge.
The highlight for me were the walkways. They provide beautiful views of London, great for photos. Not only that but there is a portion of the walk way that is glass! So if you like a mini-​thrill, then you can lay down and take selfies when you are 100 feet high (or maybe 80 feet idk).
The other cool aspect of the bridge is the «engine» room, aka, how the bridge’s mechanism works to allow ships to pass through into the Pool of London. It’s very informative and I spent a solid 35 minutes on that section alone.
When you exit on the other side of the bridge, you can enjoy a pleasant walk down the riverside where there are plenty of shops and eateries!

Took a wrong turn at Tower of London & exited onto the wharf and WOW! Was not expecting to see Tower Bridge and there it was, right in front of me.
It is a vast & amazing structure. Standing along the river looking upon it, I imagined medieval times & all who’ve crossed it. Then I imagined Bay Bridge, Golden Gate, Coronado, George Washington bridges & did a mental comparison. While each is quite compelling, Tower Bridge, thus far, is my fave. The detail & design utterly amazing yet simple. I was in awe. Still am.

The Tower Bridge is the must see, must walk across bridge in London. For me it felt just as iconic as The Brooklyn Bridge in NYC or The Golden Gate Bridge in San Fran. When we started planning out London stay I knew we had to check out the bridge. The views both from it and of it are fantastic, you’ve gotta go see it.

Surplombant la Tamise, le Tower Bridge est surement l’un des plus magnifique pont qui soit. Un symbole immensément reconnu de tous, avec une touché bleuté du plus bel effet.
Il dispose du plus grand pont à bascule au monde et offre une vue imprenable de la mégapole du haut des deux passerelles surélevées qui relie les deux tours. En le traversant depuis le district de southwark, on arrive à proximité de la tour de Londres.

Diese Brücke ist ein Wahrzeichen von London und ist sehr schön anzusehen. Es ist ein imposantes Bauwerk was zudem sehr gut erhalten ist. Ich glaube jeder London Besucher sieht dieses Bauwerk, egal wo er sich gerade aufhält. Die Brücke ist weithin sichtbar. Sehr sehenswert ist auch das Umfeld der Brücke. An den Ufern der Themse haben sich moderne Bauten angesiedelt, die das ganze Tower Bridge Bild auflockern.

Bön je continue sur ma lancée londonienne pour parler d’un endroit emblématique pour tout londonien qui se respecte: Tower Bridge!
Pas grand chose à dire à part que c’est vraiment à voir au moins une fois si l’on ai de passage dans la capitale c’est un peu comme aller à Paris et né pas passer par la Tour Eiffel, en tant que touriste c’est inconcevable.
La première fois que je l’ai vue j’ai été un peu déçue car je m’attendais à quelque chose de plus spectaculaire (même si c’était quand même très jolie d’un point de vue architectural). Puis j’y suis retournée une autre fois mais de nuit et là c’était vraiment magique! Ce n’est qu’un pont mais c’est à voir quand même …

Die Tower Bridge gehört zu London und gehört zu einer der bekanntesten Brücken der Welt überhaupt! Vor ein paar Jahren war ich dort und ich war sehr angetan, diese Brücke live vor mir zu sehen.

Die Tower Bridge ist einer der Must-​See in London. Eine sehr schöné Brücke, die man am besten vom Tower her oder vom Kriegsschiff Belfast fotografieren kann — je nach dem, welche Thames-​Seite man bevorzugt. Auch drüber laufen ist schön, wobei man dann natürlich nicht wirklich Sicht auf die Brücke selbst hat.

Sehr schön anzusehen! Eine der schönsten Brücken die ich bisher gesehen habe.

Wer kennt sie nicht die Tower Bridge in London’?
Eine der bekanntesten Sehenswürdigkeiten über der Themse.
Ob bei Tag oder Nacht, immer wieder ist es ein toller Anblick.
Ob der Besuch im inneren es Wert ist, ist ansichtsache. Für meine Verhältnisse gibt es nicht wirklich was spannendes zu sehen.
Lieber sollte man einmal über die Brücke laufen (!) und sie sich vom ufer aus ansehen.

This bridge is a must have if you visit the UK. It looks as good as our bridges in Berlin and their contruction looks interesting. It’s the right decision to go there.

Ein beeindruckendes Bauwerk und damit sicherlich zu Recht eines der Wahrzeichen Londons. Die Ausstellung in den Türmen ist vielleicht eher etwas für naja sagen wir mal Brücken-​Enthusiasten. Der Blick von dort ober ist allerdings absolut großartig.

Für mich ist es nach wie vor das Wahrzeichen der
Stadt. Ein Highlight bei meinem London Besuch war das Öffnen der 244 langen
Klappbrücke. Innerhalb von 2 Minuten war die 1894 gebaute Brücke geöffnet.

Exhibition, die sich am Nordturm befindet, erfahren.

Im Jahre 2012 waren die Eintrittspreise sind gesalzen. Man man lernt viel über die Brücke, es ist ein Erlebnis zu sehen die Technik

Zu Fuss oder mit dem Auto egal wie man muss mindestens einmal rüber.
Der Eintritt in die Ausstellung ist wirklich teuer, aber es gibt jede Menge zu sehen.

Même sous la pluie, ce pont est unique et vaut la petite visite. Il est très impressionnant et j’imagine que l’effet par beau temps ou de nuit doit être encore plus saisissant.
J’ai cependant été surprise par toute la circulation (bus, camions, voitures) qui transite encore par ce pont, ce qui gâche quand même un peu le tableau.

I love the Tower Bridge!!!

Tower Bridge, est l’un des ponts les plus emblématiques de Londres. On y passé volontiers à pied lors d’une balade dans Londres puis on flane comme des touristes le long des quais aménagées où l’on peut voir de loin ce monument, faire des photos et observer les Anglais dans leur élément ! En effet, on les voit courir, marcher, discuter. un regal que cette parti de Londres.

Tout ce que j’ai à dire, c’est qu’il est bien plus beau et impressionnant qu’en photo, c’est l’un de mes meilleurs souvenirs.

Wir sind drunter, drüber und drumherum gelaufen :) Haben somit alle Blickwinkel aufprobiert und fotografiert. Gibt ja auch ein sehr tolles Fotomotiv ab!
Die olympischen Ringe werden einfach weggeklappt, wenn die Brücke hochgezogen werden muss, damit ein z. B. Segler dran vorbei kann.
Ein tolles Bauwerk und Wahrzeichen der Stadt! :-)

La levée du Tower Bridge est devenue un événement incontournable pour toute personne en visite à Londres.

Talvez a ponte mais bonita que alguma vez vi. Uma pessoa perde-​se a olhar para ela.

Ce pont est magnifique et mérite le détour (en plus il n’est pas très loin de la Tour de Londres, à voir aussi). Nous n’avons fait que nous y promener (il n’y avait pas trop de monde quand nous y sommes allés) et nous y avons passé un bon moment.

Tambien uno de los monumentos mas conocidos de la ciudad junto con el Big Ben, no puede faltar en tus fotografias si vas a la ciudad

Was soll man sagen, der Klassiker in London schlecht hin. Allerdings wir sie ihrem Ruf auch gerecht. Ein sehr faszinierendes Bauwerk! Und wer die Zeit hat, sollte an der spannend gemachten Führung teilnehmen, das lohnt sich.

Parada obligatoria de cualquier circuito turístico de Londres, es imponente y mas aun cuando esta levantado, si quieres tener una vista espectacular del mismo te recomiendo tomar un paseo de barco por el río.

Tower Bridge, c’est le premier pont que j’ai du connaitre dans ma vie tellement qu’il est connu. Je l’avais même en bibelot pour dire!

Eben einer der Pflichtbestandteile einer London Tour.
Ich empfehle die Brücke selbst zu erlaufen und ggf. auch ein Ticket zu lösen. Leider gibt es in der Ausstellung nicht wirklich was spannendes zu sehen. Wenn man aber schon mal drin ist, sollte man nicht vergessen sich die Hebehydraulick anzusehen, für die man die Brücke wieder verlassen muss und einen Eingang am Ufer nimmt.

Qui dit visite à Londres, dit passage au Tower Bridge ! Ce monument est superbe, j’aime beaucoup l’architecture de ce pont et j’ai adoré marché dessus même avec tout les touristes. C’était quand même quelque chose à faire et j’en garde un très bon souvenir. J’aurais vraiment voulu le voir la nuit, mais je suis contente de l’avoir vu en journée, surtout qu’il faisait super beau ce jour là !

Passage obligatoire si vous avez la chance de venir visiter Londres tout simplement magnifique.

Impressionnant en bateau mouche vu de la Tamise. Même par mauvais tant, avec de la pluie et du brouillard, c’est assez «fantasmagorique».

Un très bel endroit, pas très loin de la city, moi ce que je préfère c’est les environs. On peut le visiter avec les bijoux de la reine mais il faut compter quand même 15livres. C’est vraiment pas donner aussi vaut il mieux se contenter de quelques photos et aller un peu plus loin pour visiter les bords de la Tamise.

A opção ganhadora foi a do arquiteto Horace Jones, com um projeto que consistia numa ponte cuja pista era levantada por duas básculas. O projeto de Jones tinha um modus operandi demasiado medieval, onde as básculas seriam levantadas por correntes. O projeto foi revisado em conjunto com John Wolfe-​Barry (cujo pai tinha sido arquiteto na construção do Parlamento, anos antes), e o mecanismo escolhido acabou por consistir num sistema hidráulico, sendo impulsionado por água pressurizada, que por sua vez seria bombeada por máquinas à vapor. Com a morte de Jones, Wolfe-​Barry deu às torres um estilo mais aproximado ao Vitoriano Gótico. Elas se parecem com fortes escoceses da Idade Média, e suas básculas abrem como uma ponte levadiça de um castelo.

Cuando lo ves de cerca impresiona. Y más aun me impresionó cuando pasamos tan cerca en el mini crucero que hicimos por el Tamesis.
Tuve la suerte de verlo levantandose desde el HMS Belfast, imagen tipica tipica.
Es muy interesante el Museo que hay en su interior.

Me encanta la torre Bridge vista desde la torre de Londres, es espectacular la vista desde allí. Paseé por ella y las vistas también son muy bonitas. Es impresionante ver levantarse el puente, nunca antes había visto un puente levantarse y me llamó mucho la atención. Las exposiciones que hay dentro de la torre también son interesantes, pero es bastante caro verlas.

Un lugar precioso y mitico de londres, es precioso y perfecto caminar por él.
De lo que más me gustó de la ciudad junto a candem market.

Es uno de los puentes más bonitos de Londres, la última vez que gui lo vi levantado, si teneis la oportunidad de ver lo asi os va a sorprender.

Otro de los monumentos más dignos de visita de Londres. Muy promocionado, dado que sale en muchas películas. Bajo éstese pueden encontrar bares para tomar algo justo al lado del río, con muy buen precio. Además, Londres ofrece recorridos en abrca por el Támesis que pasan bajo el puente. Ideal para disfrutar de tu estancia allí.

Lugar mítico de Londres, sin lugar a duda digamos que, si todos los caminos llevan a Roma, toda visita a London City acaba aquí! Y es que es impensable pasar por la capital inglesa sin sacarse una fotito con el Tower Bridge detrás.
Esta puente une las zonas de Bankside y la Torre de Londres, situadas a ambos lados del Támesis. Si se espera lo suficiente es posible ver su parte central levantarse, para dar paso a los barcos que navegan por este río. Merece la pena esperar a que se levante en el propio puente: unos minutos antes los bobbys comenzaran a despejar la zona central de coches y gente, que tendrán que esperar a que el puente vuelva a bajar muy curioso.
Este puente alberga también un museo, en el que puede verse la maquinaria que hace posible el funcionamiento de sus rampas levadizas: sin embargo, como todos los museos de este tipo en Londres, resulta bastante caro y no merece demasiado la pena. Vistas de este tipo hay desde otros monumentos más recomendables como la propia Tower o el London Eye.

Qui n’a jamais rêvé de ce pont !
Ce pont n’est pas immense mais tout comme la dame de fer il a l’air irréel.
A voir absolument.

Que dire qui n’ait été déjà dit sur ce pont! Ah, si, un détail rigolo: la passerelle pour les piétons, maintenant entièrement vitrée accueille une expo permanente sur l’histoire du pont et sa construction et bien, cette même passerelle avait été fermée en 1910 car c’était un véritable coupe-​gorge où sévissaient pickpockets et prostituées!
