Trinidad Roti Shop Carribean Cusine

I’ve recently visited London UK and made «Trinidad Roti Shop» one of the places on my list that I had to visit. I took me about an hour to get there, but it was definitely worth it! You see, I come from Trinidad and Tobago where curry dishes are the norm and our specialty. I consider myself a really great cook, especially when it comes to local cuisine, so from time to time I like to visit roti shops to see who’s the best, by test. The roti (skin, or shell as some people know it) was great, soft and smooth and very big. The curried chicken and curried shrimp was superb and when compared to roti shops in Trinidad… well to be honest, it’s simply better than all of them except for maybe one other that I’ve tasted there. The sauce and potato (curried aloo) was nicely cooked was incorporated very nicely into the meats. Their curry gets 5 stars for taste, but I had to deduct one star (overall rating) for the meat portion. It was kind of small, even by my wife’s standards who eats like a ten year old. It left me feeling incomplete as roti in Trinidad is usually very filling… and especially at the prices «Trinidad Roti Shop» sells their meals at. I think that the meat portion should be slightly bigger. All in all, it was a great meal and I’d definitely recommend trying it, whether you’re a Trini (from Trinidad), or not!

This is an amazing place not far from home for me. The Roti here is amazing. It is the only place I have tried Roti but I know from neighbours and people nearby that the Roti here is amazing. I was a little sceptical as when you go in, it doesn’t look anything special at all. It is very basic and extremely simple. The food definately makes up for how simple the venue is. I got a take away Curried Chicken (Boneless with Potatoes) Roti which was quite cheap at £5 and the portion was quite big for me personally. The only issue with this place was it is not close to Harlesden station, its a good 15 minute walk but there are various buses which stop very nearby to the shop. If you are in the area and want Caribbean food, I would highly reccomend this place.
