Under The Bridge

Most of the time I barely take note of a concert venue, since I’m there for the show. But there is something special about Under the Bridge. My first time here was for a Unilocal event, and then I returned with another friend to see Matt Bianco.
This place is just incredibly comfortable. Great views everywhere thanks to the raised outer circle, and far more seating than I’ve ever seen in a venue with a dancefloor. Lots of small and large booths to accommodate your group, no matter how many people you came with. The raised area is lined with a bar and lots of bar stools, so you can sit down comfortably, set down your beer to applaud, and enjoy a perfect view of the stage, while those behind you can easily see the stage over your shoulders. Really well designed. The acoustics here are extraordinary too.
I do wish they’d have some more popular acts, or, you know, ones I actually know (the current events schedule didn’t have any names I recognized). I would jump on the chance to see Bruno Mars or James Morrison here again! However, I would definitely make an effort to find a reason or an event to come back to Under the Bridge. My friend felt the same way. Just something very welcoming and comfortable about this place.

Fantastic venue. I’ve seen a bunch of bands there (including The Blues Brothers Band!) and been there for the Unilocal Red Party too. It’s classy, cozy, and not too big so even from the back you’re pretty close to the band.

Why wouldn’t I give them five stars? I won tickets out of a local newspaper to ‘The South’ here which I remember from my teens. The security are not heavy and it’s snazzily furnished with seating areas unlike when I won tickets to ‘The South’ last year at an O2 venue in Islington. This is much nicer. Old photographs of musicians are displayed around the cosy seating areas and the toilets are very flash. Easy to nip outside for a cigarette and there are a couple of pubs also in the football grounds by the hotels with outside terraces for before and after. A good night out of music although I’d have felt a bit out of place if I’d been on my own.

I love a spontaneous gig. So when a friend invited me to Under The Bridge with 24 hours notice, I thought yes please! A free music gig under Chelsea’s home ground in upper middle class Fulham, oh well lah di dah!
We were on the VIP list for a Universal event to launch a new album (I had NO clue what to wear), which sounds exciting but what it actually meant was that we were let into the venue ahead of a queue of about 4 people (we were there early). On the plus side, we stole a booth in this cool underground bar and ‘celeb’ spotted some Made in Chelsea people.
I really like this venue, although it feels a bit pretentious. The drinks weren’t too expensive (Corona at £4 and wine at £6 a glass is pretty standard in this neck of the woods) and they had posters of famous bands that had played there in the past. It has a metallic feel about it though and the stage seemes pretty small.
It all depends on who you see really!

Hm. I’m really torn on how to rate this place. It is kind of ??? upon first arrival as it is located on the grounds of Chelsea Football Club. No matter, it’s easy enough to find and convenient to the tube. There was a lot of staff on hand. Let me say that the sound was fantastic. It was one of the best-​sounding concerts I have ever been to in terms of equipment and acoustics.
The décor feels like a high-​paid designer’s interpretation of what a hip rock club feels like. There’s a really strange rock photo collection near the toilets. Beautiful photographs, but why? The pictures hung on the wall remind you of old venues that hang photos of people who have played there over time, but none of these people have ever played this venue. They’re just there because an interior decorator deemed them appropriate.
Oh! Another good thing: the speakers in the ladies’ toilets are great, so if you have to wee during a performance you don’t miss a note. I heard some folks complaining about the fancy loos because the doors are fogged glass. You can’t see through them. I actually like them, and the queue never took long because there were so many stalls. Bonus points, Under the Bridge!
The booze is WAY overpriced, but you’re in Chelsea, after all. In that regard, I guess it feels like what you’d expect a «music venue» in Chelsea to feel like. Overly manufactured and nice. Rounded edges. Fancy things. I felt like an imposter being there, in a way, and we left right after the show ended.
If your favorite band is playing, definitely check it out. The sound and the view lines will be great. But expect small drinks and an inauthentic feel to the venue. Still, it gets four stars because of the sound. I’m a sucker for attention to detail in that regard.

This is a decent venue, very nice inside as you’d expect at Chelsea, it was a slightly unusual experience walking past the football stadium to the rock gig, but they have a decent sound/​lighting system and stylish décor. Drinks are suitably London priced, single and mixer £6 and bottled beer £4 so get a few in beforehand!
