This library is the closest to ‘mi casa’ that I have found. It’s small and cozy like a country cottage. The staff is helpful. Once, when I was wandering around looking for a card catalog — not that there was much space to wander — one of the librarians approached me and asked if he could help. It was like he read my mind, except for that I was probably wearing my mind on my sleeve(which I wandered around showing to the staff — look at my sleeve… okay, no, not really). My only gripe with ‘la bibliotheque’ is that they don’t have a great selection of books on the premises. A lot of fluffy stuff and less in the way of substantial fiction. However, you can get pretty much any book you so desire with library loan which takes about 4 – 5 days to arrive. And now an ode to books: Books are papery More entertaining than drapery The are good for reading And hiding hairlines that are receding. Three cheers for the library.
