This was my work local when I was in the area. As is typical of City pubs, very busy for a couple of hours from 5:30, but they have plenty of bar staff. Bitter pretty well kept and some variety — they usually have Landlord. Food typical pub food — nothing special, but also not gastropub expensive. Outside area has a few benches but the alleyway means it is rarely in the sun.

We hunted out this pub because my friend’s surnamed Williamson — and discovered it was located down a quaint alley way, «the best kinds of pubs are down scary little alleys» — my friend claimed. It’s near Manor House and St. Paul’s. The pub is lively, spacious, has a great atmosphere. Their ale is famous, and they serve delicious hot food. There’s outdoor seating as well. The crowd is usually professionals.
