Hosted upon a raised embankment there are a lot of stairs to climb as you walk up to reach a train at this station. Served by one train every half an hour, the service is poor and the station unmanned. Therefore if the train is late or cancelled you will not be told, instead you have to ask. It is very windy up there on the platform and trains either go to Wimbledon and onwards to Blackfriars, Kings X, City Thameslink, Streatham, London Bridge and elephant and Castle. In the other direction is Sutton. Tickets can be bought from machines at ground level and ticket inspectors operate on this branch looking for those fare evaders. There are pictures on the walls of the staircase funded by the rail operator and made by local children which is a bit unique, but not a London must see, more of a Wimbledon USP.
