To me, a burger should have red meat, preferably beef but I’ve been known to enjoy a enjoy a lamb, buffalo, bison, kangaroo, and on a rare occasion ostrich(I know this isn’t red) burger. But chicken? I’ve had chicken sandwiches, chicken wraps, chicken tenders, and chicken nuggets along with it roasted, curried, broiled, and made into a kebab. So I’m no stranger to chicken(but which meat eater is?) but when it’s processed and turned into burger form, I start to have my concerns. No need with this one. Although perhaps it looked processed, it tasted fresh, natural, and fully of chickeny goodness with a healthy dose of spices. In addition, it’s served on a decent bread roll with plenty of sauce and veggies to make it a moist, crunchy, and chewy meal. While I wouldn’t put it on my top list for Borough market, it’s definitely worth a try and something to keep for those days when a healthier option sounds like a plan. The people at this shop are very helpful and quick to make your order. I rolled up on my bike and by the time I got from one end of the counter to the other, my burger was ready. Eating it while riding, however, was a challenge I wasn’t prepared for…

This is happy chicken in a bun, yep… smothered in homemade mayo, stuffed with rocket and ketchup dripping off it. This is how I like my birds. If you are in Borough Market you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to fresh and tasty food. You can have your pick of meaty delights or veggie treats, most of the organic/free range/happy. You would be making a wise choice at any of the stalls but this one really is yummy. As most things are around here, it’s a little pricey but appart from that perfect. So why have I scorned this place with a mere 3 stars, this is Borough Market after all. I was expecting mind blowing taste sensations in my mouth and all I got was a tasty chicken burger… there is just no pleasing some people.

Each time I’m in Borough Market, I’m never able to resist the call of the chicken. It’s like a have a chicken radar… a ‘cluckdar’ if you will, that leads me straight to this humble food stand that simply sells chicken in burger or wrap form. That’s it. Add some rocket and homemade salsa and it’s like divinity in your mouth.(Take your four pounds of goodness to the churchyard to enhance said divinity.) It’s only when you’ve devoured a chicken burger the size of your face and yet you’re still considering going back for another that you realise just how amazing it was. This chicken is definitely worth crossing the road for.

Wyndam House Poultry sells poultry and fowl. Hard to guess. They also sell assorted game such as rabbit and pheasant. This friendly staff is more than happy to give you cooking ideas and what part of the bird is best for a particular dish. The price is good as well. Located at the Borough Market, Wyndam is the only poultry specialist there and sell a fine home-bred bird from their own farm.
