The best Xi’an food I’ve had in London. There are one or two notes and flavours which are slightly inaccurate, but as someone who lived in Xi’an for 3 years I can thoroughly recommend it, the taste is much better than the Xi’an restaurant near Euston.

This place is new so smell a little of paint and DIY, but the décor aside, the food is authentic. I’m from Xi’an and I live 2 minutes away — you can’t imagine how happy I was over the weekend when I found somewhere for proper rou jia mou and yang rou pao! As with all newly opened places, the quality may be a bit erratic, I really hope this place maintain the authenticity and the friendly service. The price is reasonable also :)

A slightly mixed bag. Thankfully, the good comes in the form of the food which(provided you ask for and order from the Xi’an menu) is beautifully made regional Chinese dishes unlike anything you might order from your Chinese takeaway. The flavours were deeper and more earthy, evoking Middle Eastern cuisine more than typical Chinese food. Service was charming as well, our waitress seemingly concerned that westerners would not enjoy this style of food — she need not have worried. All the food was also extremely good value as well with main courses coming in below the £7 mark. So why only 4 stars? Well, the décor of the restaurant itself is a little less good — it was cold and a little bit shabby. It is also frustrating that you need to ask for the Xi’an menu — why don’t they just give this to you! However, this should not detract from the positives outlined above. I know that this place is pretty out of the way but it is really worth checking out if you are in this neck of the woods.

Newly opened, authentic food from China’s North West. There’s a bit of middle eastern influence on the cuisine. I had the yang ro pao mo which is mutton and Chinese bread with broth. I have to say I’m from North West China and it was better than what you normally get at home. The owners are really nice, not your typical Chinese restaurant!
