Situated towards the seafront, on higher market street, east looe, you will find the Old Guildhall and Gaol with lots to see! Tells stories of Looe’s Fishing history, ship building etc
The Old Guildhall is Looe’s oldest building!!! Dating around 1500.
It is a Tudor building once magistrates court and cells.
Right outside you can see a huge Cannon which I believe was from the Spanish Armada. The Cannon used to be infront of a Café on the seafront but in recent years has been moved to the Old Guildhall, which serves as a nifty resting place on a drunken Saturday night when you want to rest your feet before heading to Looe’s one and only ‘nightclub’ (see picture) :D
