When it comes to flowers, I’m not really much of an enthusiast or expert and, to be honest, I don’t think I really want to be either. My experiences with buying flowers usually involve a quick dash to a local supermarket the day before Mother’s Day in a frantic attempt to get a decent bouquet for under a fiver that still says ‘I Love You, Mum’.
With that in mind, I headed to Alison’s with a determination to try and find a decent bunch of flowers for a special occasion. The selection of flowers and arrangements on offer at Alison’s is both extensive and impressive and even though I’m pretty clueless when it comes to flowers, what I can say is that they all looked very bright and colourful, which is basically my only way to judge a good bunch of flowers (ooh, look at all the lovely colours).
The staff at Alison’s were friendly and very helpful, meaning even someone as oblivious as me was able to pick a nice bouquet with their help. The prices of their flowers did seem quite expensive, but then again I’m used to coming home with change from a tenner when I usually buy them, so I guess you’re paying for quality with anything you buy here.

Alison’s is tucked away on the corner of a small parade of shops in Lydiate. However, despite this, it has one of the best floral window displays I have ever seen.
This is a family-​run business which exudes efficiency and professional service. Alison’s has a great collection of occasion flowers, suitable for a range of events from funerals to weddings. They do local, national and worldwide delivery for convenience.
As a get-​well gift for a friend I purchased the mixed flowering basket with chocolates (for £26.99). Although, it took me awhile to select as the choice was so vast! I thought prices were decent and fairly competitive.
