Love this place. cheap food. much cheaper than Tescos. conveniently placed near our apartment haha. only downside is that if you only want a few bits, pray it’s quiet… maybe they should have a basket only checkout. but then that would require more staff and push prices up.

One of my favourite Aldi’s as its close to where I work in the city centre as well as being on the same site as Pure Gym at the Urban Exchange shopping centre.
It gets über-​busy around midday at weekends to the point where it’s not always possible to get on the car park. I like to get there about 9am after a workout at the gym and have the place almost to myself.
It’s no surprise that Aldi is getting more and more popular all the time at the expense of Tesco and Asda. They are spot on with their pricing and the food quality is as good as much dearer supermarkets if not better.

Love this place, every time I get a bill that’s über low I just feel happy… The worst day can be brightened by a £10 bill when you are expecting loads more…
Only time to avoid is midday weekends when it stops being a hipster paradise and becomes a place for a million prams to congregate and block every aisle ;)

I LOVE aldi! What is not to love?! Yes there are hardly any brands but they are the same products just different wrapping! Great selection of breads, cheeses, hams and salamis, frozen pizzas, meats and fish– the list GOES ON!
This time of year they are fabulous for Christmas things! We bought all of the sweet stuff from there for Christmas as my mum in Bath doesn’t have an Aldi nearby– too posh ;) So we got a luxury Christmas pudding for about £3 I believe instead of £12 at Sainsbury’s and other stores down south!
You just can’t beat it for alcohol there either I love the schnapps they have, fruit ciders for £1, sparkling and normal wines are good too as well as a good selection of ales including wainwright!
yes you have to bring your own bags or pay for them which can be annoying to remember BUT its great for the environment and I think more shops should be doing this as well! The queues might get huge too BUT check staff are ridiculously fast and nearly always friendly!

This brand of supermarket (Ancoats and the other one on Market street) has become my standard weekend-​stock up establishment, on my way home from work… and it would appear that I’m not the only one, for the place is a hive of bustling activity on a Friday night, as every local apartment-​dweller can be found here stocking up on the cheapest booze and pizza in town.
Last night I decided to get a few ‘bits’ for the weekend, but I ended up purchasing most of the party food and drink I’ll need for my flat warming next weekend (I’ve recently moved back to the area). There are just so many essentials at ridiculously low prices, that you need to be prepared for over-​buying. A standard-​sized frozen pizza (nice as well) for 89p. WTF! Garlic bread 30p. Cottage cheese is at least twice the price in Tesco and Morrison’s. On that note, Aldi is great for cheese-​lovers, in terms of prices. Not the the most varied selection but they are definitely the cheapest. Veg is cheap, bread is the cheapest in town, with a fresh bakery on site selling dirt-​cheap homemade bread.
I have to say I went in for booze primarily and I purchased some fine ales for little over a quid! Bought some wine for £3.15 and it’s actually ok! Also managed to get some winter wamers which you don’t see anywhere else but the Christmas markets for treble the price; mulled cider and gingered wine for around £3 a pop, amazing!
The only gripe I have is having to purchase carrier bags, as I’ve a drawer full of them at home. Come prepared with your own plastic if you come here and bring at least three, as you will go ALDI supermarket-​sweepin’ in the aisles. :-)

How can Aldi get it so so right?!(well for me anyway) They have an excellent range of fresh fruit and veg at super low prices. There own brand food tastes great and don’t get me started on the cooked meats section. No where else can you get such a variety of dried hams, salami’s & Bavarian snacks at such low prices.
To top it all off — the middle isles are full of weird an wonderful items that just don’t belong there which always make me laugh… Who’s shopping list is Fresh chicken, Under Armour, Brocolli, 2foot wrench, Carrots and a Garden Trimmer…
But hey ho it must work for them… I was told by someone that Aldi gets some of it’s produce from the same supplier as Marks and Spencers but who knows if it’s true.
Plus if your really lucky when you visit Aldi you might get to see Fizz from Corrination street buying 3 crates of mint source. What more could you want?

Cheap cheap cheap. If I’m honest I prefer Waitrose but the reality is I’m a tesco kid. Its good quality at Aldi. Not sure about this one month comparable food shop challenge. I get nervous and overwhelmed at the till as they go at light speed. Lol

Aldi is on Great Ancoates St is on a mini retail park where there is a pure gym, Marks & Spencer Outlet and a Go Outdoors camping shop. The communal car park is always very busy but on two levels. Aldi is always very busy. They seem to sell everything now for every day living, in other words have greater choice than they once did! Just they don’t have enough tills open meaning you always seem to have to queue. But the shelves always fullY stocked despite how busy it is. Weekly they have some special deals with fruit and vegetable prices for 69p (or less) which happens once every two weeks. I’ve started to my weekly shop in there lately and it’s a lot cheaper than Tesco’s or Asda, I just keep a list of odd things I can’t get and pop to Asda/​Tesco once a month.

Hey! Its Aldi. If you have never been inside one then you should. Over the years I have seen an increase in varieties of food stocked and the prices not risen as quickly as the main supermarkets.
In a great location on Great Ancoats St (ring road) with lots of parking, on a site shared by Go Outdoors, M&S outlet and a ²⁴⁄₇ Gym… All in the building formerly operated by an Ikea type store that was called ILVA.

A great supermarket for all the apartments and homes around Great Ancoats Street and Ancoats, seeing as there are no other big supermarkets around, It’s always very busy and full of fitties and full of great items, they do great offers on vegetables as well as most of other things, most of there own brands are pretty good as well and some items are as low as 39p!

When you live in Northern Quarter you really are spoiled for choice, so I have the expensive supermarkets and the not so expensive ones all stone throw distance from my place. This can be quite a bad thing because it becomes extremely difficult to make your mind then but when it comes to Aldi its fairly simple because you can come out with bags full without shelling out a bomb!
This Ancoats branch is really big and always well stocked up and they ALWAYS have Coriander which happens to be my favorite herb! (WIN). Aldi is also good for buying alcohol because its reasonably cheaper than its competitors. They also have a great selection of condiments which is yet another favorite thing of mine in the kitchen! I would not recommend buying meat from here (purely because one very wise old lady told me once — you should never buy meat when its cheap) but if you want to go ahead I am sure it won’t kill you!
Verdict: Cheap and Cheerful — great for end of the month shopping!

ANCOATS BABY! Sorry, but I absolutely love living here. Favourite, bestest place I’ve lived in Manchester, and I’ve lived in many a Mancunian neighbourhood. Anyways, one of the reasons I love living here, as well as it having once been called Little Italy, the old cotton mills, Cutting Room Square, my sweet sweet balcon, the stone’s throw distance from the Northern Quarter… is that my nearest supermarkets are Wing Yip and this bad boy.
Our first morning here we hotfooted it over to Aldi to buy some much-​needed breakfast, store-​cupboard stuff, salad, lunch stuff, well, pretty much everything. Urgh, moving. So basically we’ve been back countless times since, and like the Didsbury branch, it’s very much an Aldi that caters to its neighbourhood. I think it’s actually larger than the Market Street one (which I’m not far from either), offers several kinds of trolley, and has more interesting garden stuff, albeit less sandwiches. But who cares when you can make your own?
I’ve never been unable to find anything I need here, and also, 12 Budweisers for around £7. ‘Nuff said.

Yeah this ALDI is really good. Its similar to the Piccadilly one, being as it is the same supermarket. However, that one is horrendously busy and really stressful, so this one is better.
Anyway the main thing to talk about is the crisps. These are so nice. They are the best crisps in the world. They take the basic form of a tortilla chip and come in a variety of flavours. The cheesy ones are fine, but if you want to really experience the crisp sensation that these are, you will have to select the Chilli option.
These are a quid. And they have Mexican designs on the pack. This is not as important as the taste, but its still critically important.

Taking up some of the space left by the now closed-​down ILVA furniture store, Aldi is a welcome addition to the supermarkets over on the Ancoats side of town.
Barring the small Co-​Operative supermarkets near Shudehill that are only really good for a few bare essentials, if you live in the Northern Quarter or Ancoats you end up driving to an Asda in Moss Side, Eastlands or Harpurhey. Thankfully, this Aldi now means that I can get almost all of the grocery shopping I need a 3 minute drive from my flat.
The vegetables are really cheap. This is because their sell-​by dates are kind of fast approaching. Everything else is cheap as well, meaning you can make incredible savings in comparison to shopping at Asda or Sainsbury’s. To be honest, I prefer the quality of the food at somewhere like Sainsbury’s but when times are tight, Aldi is a great supermarket to help you start counting the pennies.
Be warned, they have quite an aggressive bagging policy. At the checkout, you need to throw all your food really quickly back into your trolley, pay your money, and only then may you take your food to the ‘packing shelf’ and pop it all in plastic bags. Make sure you don’t get this bit wrong, they don’t like it when you don’t understand.
