RIP Woolworths. Although B&M Bargains isn’t a bad shop, it will just never live up to the reputation of its predecessor. And it doesn’t sell CD singles or pick-n-mix. B&M does sell a range of discounted food products such as tins, noodles, chocolate and crisps. My favourite purchase was a big fruit and nut Toblerone for £1. OK, so it was out of date, but that didn’t stop me consuming it in one sitting! B&M also offers a range of homeware, including cushions and prints, all at cheap prices. Whether or not B&M was a necessary addition to Chorlton is debatable — there is already a Quality Save and several other discount stores. However, it has some good offers and is certainly better than many of the other ex-Woolworths stores which remain empty and unloved.
