Popped in on a Saturday afternoon after finding everywhere else in Didsbury village was really busy. Chalk was pretty much empty, but the service was still slow when it came to getting drinks etc. I ordered the avocado, prawn and crayfish open sandwich which was delicious. Plenty of prawns and crayfish :-) it came with a few chips on the side and a small salad. Very tasty. My mum ordered a fish finger sandwich which looked epic. This also came with fries and a small salad. The service was slow, I enjoyed the food but not on my return to in a hurry list

Have been patronising Chalk Didsbury for drinks for around the last eighteen months and thought I would give it a try for breakfast… what a mistake! Arrived with my partner at 10.00. And there were four other people their… two having breakfast and two having coffees near the bar. We were shown to a table and given menus and the server said she would be back in a few minutes. However 12 minutes later nobody had been back to ask about drinks or take our order. In the meantime a group of four people had arrived and sat down near us. Within a couple of minutes of their arrival they were being served pots of tea… and by the member of staff who had shown us to our table… did she not think I have got something wrong here? Crass incompetence which cannot be blamed on being busy. Given the unacceptably poor service we left and went to Didsbury Lounge which was a first rate experience with great food, first class service and value for money. The Manager and staff of Chalk should breakfast at the Lounge and see how it is done!!! Ray Smith

Lovely Sunday lunch experience at Chalk, situated in Didsbury Village. Visited last year, and I think around the same time; late summer and for Sunday lunch — and thought it a bit so so. A re-visit was in order, and a social group meet gave me this opportunity and a much more enjoyable experience ! We were a table of 10, and the service was good. Sunday roasts were on offer, together with their normal lunch/dinner menu. I opted for Chargrilled Garlic Chicken with Triple Cooked Chips and Onion Rings. This was very tasty and filling; the Onion Rings being better than the norm — being nice and crispy. My mains was goods, but the majority of my fellow diners went for the Beef Sunday Roast which looked absolutely superb and quite an offering on a square plate. This meant some major food envy ! There were not too many empty plates after we had all finished, and I plan a re-visit to sample the Sunday Roast in the future. The dessert options didn’t offer quite the enjoyment or choice as the mains — but still a nice way to end a lovely meal; chocolate fondant being a popular choice. I opted for a cheese board which was very pleasant. Nice Sunday afternoon ambience here.

Nice aesthetics, great service and staff. My friend ordered the veggie burger but it was too watery. I ordered the cheese sandwich and it was painted with too much chutney, far too much. The chips were nice though as were the cappuccinos. Don’t think I’ll eat there again, but ok for drinks.

This is a new addition to the selection of restaurants in Didsbury village, and I hope it keeps going much longer. Decided to take the lady out for a treat dinner and we were pleasantly suprised. The waiting staff were very attentive and actually took pride in their service, which is quite commonly a miss nowadays. The food was a lovely suprise, quality produce and nice decent portions. The technique and presentation was modern, but without pretentiousness. I suffered food envy at nearly every order that passed my face. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be coming back to sample the cocktail menu

A really cool bar which has just recently opened on Wilmslow Road in the trendy Didsbury Vilage it has a great terrace, though it only has around 4 – 5 tables and chairs, the high rise chairs are so comfy!!! so these quickly go, but its perfect for people watching and watching the world go by, The whole bar and restaurant is lovely as well but we was only here for a couple of drinks though and they also have there own larger at only £3.20 a pint!!! All the staff were really down to earth and really friendly and we can’t wait to go back for a meal sometime!

Arrived 15 mins early asked to have a drink at the bar by a really nice front of house guy. 45 minutes later we ask about our table and informed its not ready yet, behind him I can see 8 yep 8 empty tables. Not helping was the overly overhead bright lighting which killed the really nice tungsten mood lighting and no music or white noise to take the edge of a clinical atmos. Really nice staff but ill informed of the food they are serving and what it consists of, bit embarrassing really as we are paying for this. Food arrived in a will this do as we have ran out of this and that and its a tuesday night! again we found ourselves trying to make it ok for the people serving us, yep… awkward and embarrassed. Cheque came to us at full hit, no deductions for the restaurants failures…
