I am as fussy as they come about my hair. Since about 11 I have always had the same hairdresser and he knows exactly what to do with my hair. Then, bam, I move up north and I no longer have a trusted pair of scissors to turn to. Admittedly, during my first(and second) year of university I simply let my hair grow a bit shabby and then went home for a haircut, but now in my third year I decided to man up and do my hair the justice it deserves. Because I have short hair and a small budget, I have to have my hair cut a lot but always look to keep the costs minimal. Dyland Roberts is at the end of my road in Fallowfield and was a great place to start and finish my search for hair care in the big city of Manchester. The first two times I went I had dry cuts, costing £11 on a student discount day(Wednesdays & Thursdays) which barely put a dent in my balance and, though I had to go home and wash/style my hair, gave me a good all-round cut which I happily went back for. My most recent visit consisted of a wet cut and blow dry because my fringe had gone haywire and needed some real care and attention, which cost me around £22, again on a student discount day. One of the reasons I really like Dyland Roberts is the staff; they are always friendly and want to help, and ready for a good gossip. They also know what they are doing and wont just take the scissors to your hair before asking your opinion and then giving theirs. Some might not like this, but for many people I have seen coming in and out of here, this advice really helps. Even with men they advise on how short they really want to go and discuss face shapes and styling possibilities, meaning you do get an across the board service, not just cut and go. Finally, I was stopped in town and asked where I had my hair cut, so there is already another happy customer.

I have a confession to make. I’m not too bad now, in fact I’ve acquired a head shaving kit, but in the past, I cared a bit too much about my hair for a bloke. Living as I did in a student area, as a student with little money, I immediately set about locating somewhere I could get my hair cut for a good price, without them mullering my barnet, and making me look a plonker. My worse experience, I don’t mind saying, took place on Oxford Road, at a place called St James, check my review. My best experience, I am delighted to report, took place here at Dylan Robert. Its not that they did anything too special, as I didn’t want anything too special, but on three or four occasions they cut my hair to perfection(with aplomb) and charged me a very reasonable £10. I’m sure they are very good for women too but if you’re a bloke and you want a hair cut that will make you look your best without damaging your bank balance(or overdraught) then Dylan Robert is the place for you.
