Hilton Chambers

This place was okay, but way overpriced. And it was SO LOUD that it was impossible to sleep. My room was right across the street from a late night bar. The staff were kind of rude, and some barely spoke english. Also, NO LOCKERS. There are tiny lockers to maybe put a book in in the hallways but none in the rooms and none big enough for a suitcase.

When I checked out they didn’t ask me how my stay was so I decided to write a review.
It was awful.
It wasn’t completely filthy everywhere but it certainly could have been a lot cleaner.
However, the worst thing about this place is the noise level. This was by far the noisiest hostel I’ve ever stayed in and I even stayed in a private room.
Part of it is the area — lots and lots of drunk, loud people right outside and the windows don’t seal up properly… Even with earplugs it was very loud.
The other part of it was the other guests. I did call reception and they came up to tell the other guests to keep the noise down twice but it didn’t help, the other guests just ignored it and carried on making a lot of noise. I could hear them in the corridors and in the rooms next to me, super thin walls. Finally at 5:30am the guests quietened down and everyone drunk outside had gone home, so I probably fell asleep around 5:45am.
The pillows aren’t very comfy but the bed was ok… I didn’t feel any bedbugs, so that’s a plus and maybe a reason for a one star.
But I really wish I had slept on my sister’s floor instead of staying at this horrible place at such a ridiculous price for the worst night of non-​sleep ever.
Also a random woman came into my room without an explanation in the morning, that was quite weird and awkward… I had locked the room so either their key system sucks or she worked there. Still, it wasn’t a very nice end to my already terrible stay!
Glad to have only spent a few hours at this place, because otherwise my trip to Manchester was very enjoyable, but as I’m sure you can gather, that enjoyment was nothing to do with Hatters!
I would recommend anyone to avoid it, unless you’re very desperate or love being an insomniac or someone pays you £200-£300 to stay here. Certainly wish I hadn’t wasted any of my money here!

Great stay and experience. The location is perfect. My single room was clean. And their Saturday night pub crawl was great!

A nice and corn hostel in the northern quarter. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is free wifi and the common rooms are stocked with activities for guests. It’s a great place to stay for single travellers

All rigth, this is mi first review, what can I say? Mmm the Hilton Chambers it’s part of the Hatters hostels, this is a really central place for stay, the staff are really kind, at the moment that we arrived they immediately offers us a cup of tea or coffe in the kitchen. The other nice thing it’s that they have free toast at every time.
My boyfriend and I arrived on Friday so the price of the room was £70 it’s expensive, but we are only going to stay for 2 nights and we really want a place close to the center.
The bedroom it’s very spacious, and the bathroom really really big! The beds are amazing, really comfortable.
For a southamerican couple this is an awesome place the only «but» is the price!!!

This hostel is lovely. It is surprisingly cheap considering its location. It is also very clean and the staff are what really make this hostel. They are friendly, helpful and have a chat with u. I would definitely come back here and stay again and will tell all my mates about it.

As far as hostels go, the Hilton Chambers was sort of the bee’s knees. I wouldn’t realize by what an extent until three weeks later, when I’d stayed in all class of places (from a basement with what could quite possibly be the largest spider I have ever seen in my life, and instantly murdered using some German kid’s shoe [not present at the time] and feeling instantaneously bad on all sorts of levels, to what was virtually a hotel. This place is a very good, extremely well-​priced hostel; very inexpensive, even, as I was only in a four-​person room (and the other folks didn’t even show up). Hilton Chambers is exceptionally clean, and the rooms are actually rather spacious. Great location in Manchester; just down the way from Piccadilly Gardens (and by several bars serving the ever glorious Boddington’s).
While you do not have a safe in your room, the front desk will hold any of your personal items in their lock-​box, which is behind their 24-​hour reception. Hilton Chambers has their stuff in order, and are even a bit (through reasonably) strict.
On an unrelated note, the Manchester version of London’s The Eye is totally worth it.

There are a number of things that Dana G forgot to mention, such as the lack of lockers at the hostel. Yes, there are keycards to gain entrance to each room… but 2 nights ago when I was in london at St Pancras YHA they had both an electronic keycard to gain access to the room and then lockers for each bed in the room.
I am in a 10 bed mixed dorm ensuite, and I feel rather uncomfortable leaving all my belongings there while I go out and explore the town.
Oh, and taking a page out of Central America… I guess you’re not supposed to flush toilet paper down the toilet here? They have little bags by the toilet which read «Don’t flush it, bag it and bin it.»
Beds are clean, linens aren’t bad. No complaints otherwise.
No free WiFi. =(

This is a hostel, so expect to frills. However its clean and cheap and the staff are lovely too. Right in the heart of the trendy northers quarter with shops bars and cafes at your door, its a short stroll to the main higstreet shops to and transport is just a second away!

Imagine this: You just spent your first night in London in the nastiest hostel ever. Your room was dirty and falling apart, the bathrooms smelled disgusting and had no hot water, the staff were rude, and your bed was hard as a rock and sported probably-​unwashed sheets.
After a cold shower in the morning, you hop a train to Manchester and check into the hostel you’ve booked for the night. It’s is a quick walk from the train station, and you find the lobby gleaming and staffed by smiling people. They invite you to use the common area kitchen anytime, day or night, and encourage you to help yourself to free tea and toast. They also give you tips about the coolest places in the city to check out. When they show you to your room, you find that it’s spotless, and the bed is actually kinda comfy. The en suite facilities are also gleaming, AND there’s hot water! Have you suddenly arrived in Heaven?! Nope, just a place called Hilton Chambers.
I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Manchester!

Das Hitlon Chalmbers ist sozusagen die Tochert des
Hatters! Ganz im Gegensatz zum Hatters ist dieses Gebäude
vollkommen modern! Deutsche Standards und Sanitäranlagen,
was man in den UK gar nicht so oft findet :-).
Es ist sauber und einfach die beste und günstigste Unterkunft
in Manchester! Wie schon im Hatters gibt es Dorms und private Rooms. Es gibt Toast, Marmelade und Tee und Kaffee umsonst.
Internet gibt es per WLAN kostenlos! Also Laptop mitnehmen!

Clean, cheap, convenient location, friendly staff– It’s now part of the hatters group which run the other hostel on Newton Street. Great for backpackers or stag/​hen do’s on a budget, there’s lot going on in the Northern Quarter to keep you occupied bars, clubs, shops, cafes. Rooms are clean and have a good layout. Cheaper than the YHA. All in all, fantastic!

The Hilton Chambers is situated on the first floor above the famous Koffee Pot and although it has only been open for about a year, it is a great place to lay your head if you’re on a heavy night out and can’t afford a taxi (or just can’t be bothered)
The staff are friendly and will help you out with most things and it’s clean, fresh and cheap! An added bonus is the close proximity of the greasy-​spoon café downstairs!
