Natwest

Just read Rebecca’s review and have to say I’m hugely impressed — how lucky!
Although, my experiences in this Natwest have not been as pleasant. There’s a huge queue every single time I go in and someone in there smells awful so you almost die for lack of clean air. The clerks are usually rude and surly — though who can blame them when they have to deal with student all day, every day.
It’s really small too when you think they might capitalise on just how much business they have and move to bigger premises somewhere along the road.
Short and sweet (at the end of the day it is just a bank) but I wouldn’t go there unless I absolutely had to. Go somewhere else people.

Nice story:
In third year of Uni, I was down to my last withdrawable £20 (you know, that time of term.) and there was a queue at the outdoor cashpoint, so I popped inside, and used the indoor cashpoint. Unfortunately, at this point I was on the phone to Friend Since Birth, and STUPIDLY left my LAST £20 IN the cash machine. That’s right, I am an idiot. Anyway, after a short episode that saw me crying in Kro and being bought waffles by Classy Friend, I decided it was probably worth it to pop in to the bank and ask if by some chance it had been handed in. Naturally, the counter clerk thought I was fishing for a free £20, but she took my receipt (yes, I picked up a receipt but NOT my LAST £20) that proved I’d actually used the machine, and said they’d check the CCTV and give me a call.
People, they called me the next day.
I went in and was given my £20, in an envelope, with my name on.
I have never even banked with NatWest, but can only surmise from this experience that they employ angels.
Told you it was a nice story.

Got to disagree with the below review. This natwest is rammed, doesn’t matter what time of day it is. Students line up across the shop floor to speak to advisors about, «Has my loan come through?», «I’ve been charged for going over my overdraft» and «I’ve lost my card». This natwest is a notorious wait because of this, avoid like the plague. Bless the staff though who are saints for their patience.

I have used this branch of Natwest for all my banking needs over the past four and a half years, and have always been completely and utterly satisfied by the service provided. It certainly lives up to the adverts hyping Natwest as a bank in touch with the customers and down with the kids.
The main lobby area is very simple; there’s a information desk, a cash point, and four cashier points. That’s it. However, this small interior belies a much larger warren of offices and rooms above, but which you will only get to see should you have a more complicated request than paying in money or changing address. It can handle any problem you can throw at it and then some.
The staff are all very friendly and accommodating, and perfectly willing to ensure you get in touch with whoever it is you need, by phone if necessary. During my last visit I needed to discuss restructuring a loan and the graduate manager, Andy, was more than happy to talk it through with my Dad on the other end of a phone to save me the trouble of stumbling through an explanation later.
If you are with Natwest and live near to this branch, then I’d suggest picking it as your main point of contact, as it never seems to get too busy. If you aren’t with Natwest, then you’re missing out.
I feel I should add, by ‘not too busy’, I mean you won’t wait too long compared to others. I’ve never been in a bank that didn’t have queues, and any of the other Natwests are much bigger and seem to be frequented much more commonly. You always have to wait in a bank, but here they have always seemed the shortest.
