At first, I was rather shocked at all the negative reviews for Norwegian Blue. Now that I think about, however, I can sorta understand why. I’ve only been to this place once and that was at least a good couple of years ago. If I remember right, my older brother was doing a gig at the now closed down NQ Live and because he wasn’t selling as many tickets as he’d like to, he made me and our mother buy one… yeah. Now to the actual review: Around on Saturday, we ended up at Norwegian Blue for a quick bite to eat before the gig. No particular reason, we were just curious about the place. There was a bouncer outside who quickly let us in so all good so far… Ears get assaulted by VERYLOUDMUSIC and JUSTASLOUDPUNTERS, not so good. So I take a seat upstairs while mum does the ordering which did take a while. She got a pitcher of… Ah, can’t remember the name but it consisted of coke, amaretto and Jack Daniels — very nice and apparently rather cheap! The food took a long time to come… and was not worth the wait OR the price. We both had burgers… They were meh, just meh and the chips were just standard cheap-ass oven chips. Mine was supposed to be a different burger on the menu but all they did was slap a bit of bacon on it. ITHADBACONONITAND I STILLWEREN’T IMPRESSED… Jesus. Negativity aside, I will hold up my hands and admit that I did kinda have a decent time in this toilet. I was slightly amused at the antics of the group of tipsy but friendly students(at least I think they were students) at the table next to us. One started nibbling on the leftover chips on mums plate which she found funny but I found it a little off putting. I was amused by this other guys attempt to do his ‘signature fist-bump’ with me as they were leaving. And shortly after that, we left… Never to return. P.S: I sprayed coffee all over my pc after reading the other reviews — looking at you Rebecca D. and Steven B. hahahaha XD

Was impressed with the drinks promos and extensive cocktail menu enough to go in here. Everything was going well. till a hen party arrived, followed by 100,000(roughly) punters and the loudest music I’ve ever heard. Totally different beat in the evening. Too loud and full of nutters, where I will be forever scarred by the 50 year old woman eating the face of a barely legal boy. Worth a shot during the day perhaps, where some of the drinks promos are actually quite good. Not recommended in the evening.

Pretty cheap and nasty. Full of drunkards and hen/stag parties. Watched the football there during the day, it was pretty busy and noisy, couldn’t really get to the bar. Generally not very nice, just bit nasty, But if you’re looking for a busy, relatively cheap place to go, its definitely an option.

Norwegian Blue, makes up the pub list in the Printworks and well to be honest, doesn’t really add much value to that list! I came here with a friend before I was to head to Birdcage. They had a special offer going on which was great in my opnion, 2 cocktails for just £6.50! Now, that is cheap for a pub in the Printworks. I enjoyed my ‘screaming orgasm’(I’m obviously referring to the bailey’s and cream cocktail Yum!) and the friend was happy with her mojito. Though I practically don’t like this place at all due to an incident to a friend of mine. Happily we planned to go out and catch some early drinks and my friend, let’s call him X from country Y, he was asked age-proof and he showed his driver’s license which is valid in every other place in the Uk. But the said bouncer here, Mr Mean, just wouldn’t let him through. When X tried to reson out, Mr Mean actually said– ‘You and your people don’t get English??!’ And there was a heated atmosphere all around! Think of the audacity of Mr Mean to even utter such a line! We all pushed at him many not so good things and left the bar! This place defnitely needs a new décor, a new menu and obviously some mannerful bouncers! Norwegian Blue’s got it all wrong!

I have ended up in the Printworks, and in Norwegian Blue just once during my time in Manchester and that was enough. At the weekend, this place is just horrible, packed to the rafters with men in shiny black shoes, blue jeans and white checked shirts, and women who should just know better. Really not the kind of people I like to spend my evenings out anywhere near. Basically, it’s the kind of place where you throw as much alcohol down your throat as possible before heading to Tiger Tiger to dance as well as a drunk person can. With clientele like this, it’s no surprise that the staff are fairly off with people as well.

The axis of all things wrong with manchester’s club scene. This place just draws in the scum bags. My personal experience just seemed to be me on my own having to single handedly ward off an army of mutants trying to hassle the girls I was out with. Ever seen that scene in lord of the rings where they escape from the cave system and all those ork things are chasing them. Basically that’s the best way I can think of it, the drinks are very okay but over priced.

The very first time I stepped foot in Norwegian Blue, 3 things happened: — Thing 1: Norwegian Friend was chatted up by a pervy, slightly desperate man who would soon become her husband(or her greencard, either way) — Thing 2: A girl threw a drink over her boyfriend, narrowly missing me — Thing 3: I witnessed five people gather around a handheld mirror and snort coke in the middle of the bar, like it was a totally normal and legal thing to do. The three things above coloured my view of Norwegian Blue very badly, so it was with a heavy heart that I revisited it last week for an acquaintance’s birthday. Maybe it’s because we went midweek, but it wasn’t all that bad. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the house red is just about drinkable. The service was appalling, however, and when Tiny Friend was served rose instead of white, they refused to take it back or replace it for free, insisting she’d ordered rose(despite the fact that she never would.) Upshot: Tiny Friend had to pay for two glasses of wine. Bad times. I would absolutely advise against going to NB on a weekend, unless you crave the sight of middle aged women doing the Single Ladies dance to every single song. In which case, get thee to Norwegian Blue!

I had the misfortune to find myself in Norwegian Blue on a Saturday night once. The bar was crammed full of young, brash boozers looking for some action or belligerent punters looking for a fight. This place is great if you’re young and like to have a crazy night, everyone seems to be up for it(I was leered at and approached a number of times by incoherent strangers) but it’s just not where I am now. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but I’ve been told that it’s like that most evenings. The drinks may be well priced but the music is commercial and the bar itself lacks character when the throngs have departed.

What an awful bar. This is not the sort of place I would ever go to for any reason. It has no soul, no atmosphere, no personality, nothing. So I am completely at a loss to explain why this place is busy on the weekends?! I suppose people who go to the Printworks are not looking for a place with atmosphere, soul or personality. They’re looking for cheap drinks and loud music to dance to, both of which Norwegian Blue does have. It’s just not my kind of place.

Avoid at all costs during busy Fri/Sat evenings — it is binge-drinking hell hole. The drinks are cheap but that attracts the wrong type of crowd. During the day it’s much more pleasant, not busy and you can sit down with a few friends and enjoy a couple of cheap drinks. Can’t stress enough how much you need to avoid during busy periods, getting to the bar and waiting to get served will consume half of your night out and last time I went in the evening — the gents toilets were broke so a the girls loos were used as a unisex toilet — and oh my god what an ordeal — sexist comments being shouted out from both sexes — horrible!

If you like to go out puerly to get drunk, you will feel very much at home here! On most Friday and Saturday nights this place is full of a flock of people who are far too drunk to move properly, drunken youngsters getting rowdy and leery men after anything in a skirt! I went here once, and left after downing my first drink! The floors are also sticky after about 9pm as no one can hold onto their drinks and seem to pour them all over the floor! This place is my idea of hell, yes the drinks are cheap, but that means it attracts all of those people who now intend to drink twice as much! Im just not a fan of not being able to remember what I did the next morning! If you are, you will love it here!

Situated in the Print Works, a good place to go with a gang of you on a party night. Nice range of vodkas(Grey Goose for example) if you are into that, otherwise usual range of drinks and typical city-centre prices. Lively in the evening, but better avoided during the day when it can be too quiet

Norwegian Blue, very much like the Printworks complex, is about as soulless as it gets. During the daytime this is true to an almost eerie, somewhat disconcerting, degree. Walking past, you will see people sadly drinking their drinks in silence. Yes, they will always be sat in silence. Perhaps they feel uncomfortable in there, as if they knew they made the wrong decision but it is too late to back out now. At night it is a typical on-the-pull destination; however it lacks the brio of a Peter Street Bar and instead contains a palpable sense of menace created by those who are unlucky in love. Avoid at all costs.

Norwegian Blue is located right in the centre of Manchester in the print works, ideal for starting a night out in the city centre. If your in town during the day then you can pop in for a relaxing drink or even a quick bite to eat and a coffee. Personally I prefer the atmosphere on the evening. I don’t know where the name of the pub came from as there doesn’t seem to be anything Norwegian about it to me. There offer a large selection of drinks, pretty standard for most bars in the area, they do however offer some nice cocktails. One of the best things about Norwegian blue is that the drinks are fairly cheap. Anyone who has been out in the print works will know its a great place to be on a Saturday night, its right beside various other pubs you can work your way around and even Pure if you fancy clubbing it. Personally I like to go round the Northern Quarter after working through the Print works. The pub itself if very spacious with lots of room, there is even quite a lot of seated room. Most of the people here are between 18 – 30 but they don’t seem to discriminate on age here. They offer a wide variety of music, most of it current that you can mind on MTV dance. Great night out
