i still have a bit of a soft spot for Office, when sale season approaches, you can find yourself in shoe heaven! Plus I really haven’t seen a shoe store that compares for the diversity in good olé trusty Converse high and lo tops. Quite usually, Office staff can be a bit po faced, prefering their steely gaze and not to dare move a hair out of place, this goes for the girly assistants and the boy ones too, but I find this Office to be approachable and rather charming in the staff department. For the most part the girly shoe side of things doesn’t interest me, I have friends that could spend hours drooling over the purple bows of the shoes or the 5 inch black diamonte bling heeled whatevers, but for me it’s all about the funky leisure shoes. Twas Office where I first fell in love with the Nike 6.0 glow in the dark Oncore shoes. Just when you think Office is failing you, something cool and fab pops on to the shelves that makes you want to spend up all your hard earned cash. The only thing I ever take issue with is when i spend far too much on a pair of fabo sneaks and they end up in the sales for a third of the price, which is a pain, but a testament to the excellent sales savings you can get at Office.

I prefer Office to Sole Trader for the simple reason, the staff are friendlier, the music is better and the footwear is usually a cut above. The atmosphere in this branch is always quite warm and bustling too with customers trundling in and out on a quest for the perfect pair of heels /shoes /boots. Like other Office stores, they stock an eclectic mix of styles, colours and materials from brands like Camper, Firetrap, Fuel, Rocketdog, Blowfish, Ted Baker and Irregular Choice. Right now, they have some great biker and ankle boots in for women but the star buy has to be Office’s own range of smart shoes for men. We’re talking proper pointy toe, soft leather, gentlemens’ shoes with names like Mannibago Point and Ask The Missus How To Look Good. They’re available in black, blue, purple and chocolate and are so beautifully made, I could see both Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen wearing them!

I love Office. It’s a shoe shop so I was always going to! But Office is good, the staff are friendly, the shop is well set out, the range is fantastic and it’s really reasonably priced. Especially during the sales! It’s the first place I head to! They sell a wide range of designer shoes as well as their own brand too, nothing over £150 though I don’t think so not hugely high end. They’ve always had my size in things and I’ve never felt pressured to buy anything, more encouraged(and I do not need any encouragement)! Good for both boys and girls so it can be quite easy to drag your boyfriend in!

Whilst I don’t like Office I admire it’s upfront approach. It could have been called Millionaires Row, Wall Street or High Courts but it chose to keep it real and admit to it’s level– office workers. Refreshing though it may be, this honest and realistic approach means you’re never going to emerge from Office clutching onto a bag that contains something individual, something that’ll make you stand out– but I suppose to many that’s a good thing. Don’t want to go against office policy. What’s that you say? «Ba-a-a-a-h?»
