Shelly’s

The first thing to note about this shop is the fact that it is no longer exclusively a Shellys, they now sell Dolcis and other brands of shoe.
Back in the day Shellys was my absolute fave shoe shop, mainly because they stocked the elusive size nine and had some cool modern shoes that didn’t look like boats on my oversized feet. Now this shop is a shadow of its former self. The shop is a permanent clearance jumble sale with the entrance plasted with handpainted signs proclaiming that you can get shoes for a pound. If you buy shoes for a pound from here then you have paid ninety nine pence too much. The shelfs are laden with old stock, odd sizes and hideously out of fashion styles. I saw a pair of Jellies here recently.
If shoe shopping on Market street, give this shop a miss.

To be honest I hardly ever went in Shelly’s simply due to the fact it was upstairs and you could never guarantee anything good when you got up there! However, I passed the other day and noticed they were closing down with brightly coloured wellies for £1 outside the door. I popped up to have a look and there are some major bargains.
Most womens shoes are £10 or underand there are some good ones left. I found a classic pair of round toed black heels for £10. There are lots of childrens shoes at under £5 and a range of mens shoes which I think a similarly priced.
It does however, look somewhat like a jumble sale in there right now, but then the prices do reflect this. 6 weeks until they close for good, so go and grab yourself some bargains.

Shelly’s is an OK shoe shop– they have the latest fashions but they are expensive and you can’t find anything individual. It is right next door to Shuh as well which is another shoe shop that is far better. Shelly’s is too expensive and don’t have enough designs.
