I think that Sugar Cube cannot cope with large groups. I’ve been in before with one other person and it’s all gone very smoothly. But when eight of us arrived I think they were a bit thrown. You know when you’ve bigged a place up and dragged your friends there and then it’s all a bit of a let down and you feel super awkward? Yeah, that. I went for a Kinder Bueno milkshake because why on earth would I have anything else. I was tempted by the idea of going for two chocolate bar flavours but in the end I decided I didn’t want to sully the Kinder Bueno deliciousness. It was delicious just how it was fortunately. I like that they have so many options so that you can go with a big group and everyone can get something that they like.

Came here for dessert after a visit to the nearby Tapas restaurant, Lusitano. When we arrived we all took awhile to pick what we wanted. There was lots of pondering — too much choice? I ended up going for the Crunchie milkshake. This was basically a vanilla milkshake and some Crunchie mixed in — kind of like a Crunchie McFlurry from McDonalds — do they still do it? Not been to McDonalds in ages! When it arrived, it tasted not bad. The service is not the quickest at Sugar Cube so be prepared to wait — there are plenty of seats though. I wonder how quick things are when its a busy time. Its sort of a fast food type of place so you expect things a bit quicker. It was a pretty long wait but I was lucky in that I didn’t have to wait as long as some people. The order in which the milkshakes were made seemed to be off e.g. some of the people who ordered first got their milkshakes after people order last.

Ice cream, milkshakes and crepes. What a perfect menu. The one staff member on duty manfully made 7 or 8 milkshakes in record time considering he only had one blender and was washing it out each time. I think he called for help because someone turned up to make the crepes! There’s some pretty comfortable seating although it’s probably not someone you’d linger for hours, bit canteen-esque. After tediously wavering on my decision re milkshake for about 10 minutes I settled on milkshakes and crunchies. Not the best milkshake I’ve ever had, but perfectly decent. If I’m craving a milkshake in Chorlton again will definitely pop back.

The swish décor of this place is not reflected in the service. On a hunt for dessert it was recommended to come here, which offers pancakes, ice cream and blended milkshakes. In the mood for milkshakes, it was £3 for one blend or £4 for two .I decided on a Reeses cup combined with a milky way. The wait time was slow for a fast food type place, it was literally a guy faffing around with a blender. Eventually mine was served, but for £4 I thought it didn’t look huge in its pokey glass. However one of us got completely forgotten about. Well I think he had concocted the wrong milkshake, in the end it was asked to be prepped for take out. Overall I bet this place gets chaotic at night. The owner needs to invest in an industrial blender for one, and give the staff a good shake.
