Whittard of Chelsea

Bought 250 Gramms of coffee told the cashier that I need it to be ground for v60 drip coffee she didn’t have a fucking clue what she was doing so I got espresso ground coffee which is unusable in the v 60 awful service and employees that have no fucking clue .
Terrible experience would not recommend

Tea: Best place to get your tea fix in Manchester. Not only do they have classic English teas, they do exotic teas and sometimes downright quirky.
Coffee: For those who are more of a coffee addict, Whittard also does provide a wide array of excellent coffees grinder to your specifications. Apart from your usual coffees, Whittard do offer artisanal coffees that’s on the shelves for only a certain amount of time.
Service: The customer service is always smiley and friendly. Should you need any assistant regarding teas or coffees in general, do not hesitate to learn more about them from the staffs. The only downside is the fact that I always ended up buying something from the sample of teas they have on as tasters.
Atmosphere: relaxing, warm and welcoming

I love Tea, and my partner loves coffee — Whittard of Chelsea was the perfect place for us, and im so glad i’ve found it.
They have so many different varieties or tea’s, coffee’s and hot chocolates I couldn’t help but feel like i was a kid in a candy shop.
Ultimately we bought a lovely Tea Pot costing £15.00 and it has to be my most pretentious purchase to date — but i love it!

The creaky floorboards here bug me! It doesn’t feel solid, so walking around on creaky boards by big ceiling-​high display units of expensive crockery is not a comfortable experience! The staff are friendly and helpful, but it’s a very small store.

Whittard is one of those British Institutions. You’ll find one on almost every British high street and Manchester is no different.
I’ve no idea why they are everywhere though, is buying bespoke tea and coffee really that popular? I guess it must be, as Whittards provide perfect presents for all manner of relatives — Auntie’s, Granny’s, long lost Uncles.
If you’re stuck for a gift idea, there’s a good chance that Whittard’s will be able to help.

I love tea. I wish I could show you all how many types of tea I’ve got in my cupboard. I bet you will be surprised. My dream is to open a tea house, to serve tea and to see people happy, detached from their problems. I drink a lot of tea, more than coffee. Keeps me happy and chilled. Now imagine that when I see a place like whittard, I can’t help myself but to buy something. A little tea cup, a little pot, a little something that will go with my collection and will make me happy.
I know that I will have my own tea shop one day, and I will use stuff from whittard. Because they are colorful and fancy and make you smile. Add a bit of life to your kitchen. Especially in the morning, when all you want is to sleep, all them products make you wake up just to start using them. This is how much I like this little tea place.

Ahhh, tea. Tea is a many splendoured thing. There are so many different types of tea, and Whittard’s sells them ALL! You can get big bags of loose leaf tea (but remember your tea strainer, or your tiny, house-​shaped tea infuser, all priced under £5), packets of their more user-​friendly teabags (for those heathens who don’t own teapots, par example) and if you’re really having trouble choosing what tea to go for, you can always plump for their fine tea collection, which comes in at £35 (in the sale) and you get a whopping 96 teabags, of 12 of their finest teas, all in a little wooden box. The sort of box you can keep buttons in when you’re old.
And they don’t just do tea! Oh no; the coffee here is really something. Me, I like my coffee black and very very strong. So the strong roast is perfect. Lob a bit of that in my cafetiere and I’m a happy lady. The hot chocolate is good, and the Luxury hot choc barrel will keep you going for ages if, like me, hot choc is more of an every now and then treat, rather than a nightly thing. They also sell little marshmallows and chocolate treats for your hot drinks. Come on, who doesn’t like marshmallows on their hot choc?
The teapots and cups are good, but I’ve never bought a teapot here. Probably because I feel I would be cheating on Incredible Vintage Teapot, which was a much-​loved gift from the boyf. However, I must admit I have a biiiit of a crush on their cups and mugs, especially the Victorian chintz design. Soooooo cute!
This little shop is one of those places where you ‘just pop in’ and leave with a groaning carrier bag full of goodies. And they always, always seem to have a sale on, so it’s always, always worth popping in.
*OK, clearly I have seen Anchorman too many times…

When Whittard almost went bust a few months ago, I was distraught. Where else would I go to pick up fancy teapots and strange blends? Luckily, though, the iconic British brand was saved at the eleventh hour, so I wasn’t denied my caffeine fix.
This branch, just opposite Marks and Spencer, is my favourite. The shelves are packed with lovely Lindt chocolates, china cups, fancy teas and exotic coffees, and the friendly staff always seem happy to offer you help and advice. They usually have a couple of iced teas available for you to sample, too, which means it’s always worth paying them a quick visit!

I am so relieved that the lovely Whittard of Chelsea was gallantly saved before it went into administration. I’m sure, like the fabulous and much missed Woolworths, it would have conjured up a superb online shopping contingent (Woolworths… pick and mix via the interweb… GENIUS), but there’s nothing nicer than popping into the beautiful little shop on Market Street (along that lovely little row of shops opposite Marks where you’ll find Octopus, Lush, Thorntons and the like) and receiving the lovely surprise that is a sale.
Whittard sales are great, because they make you wonder how you lived without the products before. As I type I’m contemplating heading out in the snow for the sake of a polkadot teapot. A SIX CUP teapot. Oh the joy. (You can imagine the BF’s response when I happily chirped, ‘Let’s go get a teapot.’) Another item which cropped up in the sale was something that harks back to my childhood — ice lolly makers. You know, those plastic things you pour juice or yoghurt in and make healthy icy treats. My mother used to fashion lollies for me all the time when I was a whippersnapper, and I couldn’t believe Whittard was selling the self-​same trinket.
Apart from the ace location (I do love that little street, and it’s great to pop into on your way to the bus stop or heading back to Chapel Street), Whittard is quality all day long. You can get AMAZING hot chocolates in there to make at home, really unusual ones too, everything from your standard luxury, skinny, caramel, praline and cinnamon to stranger fare such as Aztec chilli, ginger, coconut, white, strawberry and even seasonal varieties. The teas you can pick up there are incredible too, from their instant fruity varieties to chais, herbals and classics. Plenty for coffee lovers too, pick-​me-​ups from all over the globe.
Don’t let the brush with administration ever happen to poor Whittard again. Get in there and buy yourself some posh treats!

I hate to dismantle any cliches about the British but I wouldn’t care if I never sipped another cup of tea. For me, it’s all about The Bean and drinking the best coffee I can get my hands on.
Whittard of Chelsea started out as a specialist tea shop selling loose and pre-​packaged tea from around the globe. Over the last decade however, they’ve established themselves as something of a coffee specialist too selling beans and bags of freshly ground coffee. You can choose between mild, medium or strong roast with different blends from Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Kenya, Nicaragua and India.
Handily, they also sell coffee grinders, espresso stove pots, Bodum cafetieres, mugs and espresso cups. The only thing missing and it’s quite a big thing, is there’s no way to sample or taste the different coffee flavours. If only they did cups of mud to take away: the smell would draw more customers in and would give caffeine addicts like me a place to go for a fix!

I love whittards — their crockery is very unique and I have a huge collection. Their coffees are nice and come in a variety of flavour — I like caramel. Sometimes can be pricey but when they have sales, they are very reasonable. Good quality

If you’re out and about in Manchester you should drop by Whittards and take advantage of the free teas on offer. In recent times they’ve started leaving a box for charitable donations next to the free tea. I guess one too many students were seen to be taking advantage!
Anyway, it’s totally optional, the tea is still basically free. You never know it might convince you to buy some of their (rather expensive) powdered tea.
