History

Established in 2003.

Specs4You Opticians was opened in 2003 by Dr Manzoor Sheikh following a move from the Green Market in Newcastle and since then has served some 3500 people in West Denton for 11 years. In July 2014 the practice was acquired by myself Peter Archibald a contact lens optician and optometrist from Gateshead.

My aim is that Specs4You in Newcastle will provide many of the benefits of the larger companies by offering exceptional value for money but in a calmer and more personal environment. Having spent much of my career working for the larger chains, I appreciate what they can offer but understand some of the frustrations for their customers such as, the pressure to sell, long waiting times and sometimes the lack of a ‘personal touch’ due to pressures of time.

My passion is to treat everyone in a manner in which I would expect to be treated myself and to communicate with people in a way that is appropriate to them without unnecessary use of jargon and technical terminology.

Meet the Business Owner

Peter A.

Business Owner

In July 2014, I acquired Specs4You from Dr Manzoor Sheikh, who had originally opened the practice in 2003, following a move from the Green Market in Newcastle.

I have lived most of my life in Gateshead come from an ordinary family background from genuine hard working people.

I left school 7 years later on a Friday in April 1978 and started working as a trainee dispensing optician on the Monday eventually qualifying 3 years later as a dispensing optician, going on to become a contact lens optician and subsequently an optometrist.

My aim is to offer many of the benefits of the larger companies by offering exceptional value for money but in a calmer and more personal environment. Having spent much of my career working for the larger chains, I appreciate what they can offer but understand some of the frustrations for their customers such as, the pressure to sell, long waiting times and sometimes the lack of a ‘personal touch’ due to pressures of time.
