This promised much when it first opened a few years ago in West Bridgford. Ideally situated at the Cricket ground end of the high street, it looked to be a real hot spot in both summer and winter. To be fair — it might be, but not with me!
While the décor is quite stylish, they seem to have gone for the whole sports bar thing with flat screen tv’s and overpriced bottled beer served on a doilly. The terrace is quite nice, but will get very crowded on a hot day.
The food — Standard pizza/pasta/sandwich with a twist. The twist is that of the four times I ate there, three times the wrong food turned up,(after a long long wait) and twice they got the bill wrong — by too much. Including one lunch time where we were charged for two tequilas — not really my lunchtime tipple. I can’t be bothered with this lack of competancy and there are plenty of other places to go in W.B.

Ideally placed for Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, Fire & Ice is a Lounge Bar and Restaurant specialising in wood-fired cuisine. Early on, you’ll find an eclectic mix of people — business breakfasters, mothers relaxing over coffee after dropping the kids at school, and of course cricket fans if there’s a match on. A mere 250 metres from the stadium, it’s perfect for that pre-match coffee or something stronger, as well as being a bolthole to escape from loaded prices and poor quality food in the stadium, during intervals.
On nice days, sit outside in the spacious terrace, which ample and extremely comfortable seating. Enjoy the charming and efficient table service, even if all you want is a cuppa.
