Bells of Ouzeley Harvester

Harvested is a chain and it shows. We enjoyed the meal, and the server was very nice. But it didn’t ring any bells for me. The chips were a bit soggy, the green beans boiled and tasteless. The restaurant sits in a modernized old building across the road from the Thames in Old Windsor and has great views. There is a large dining terrace as well as the inside tables.

Nice setting by the Thames, and the best part was it was within walking distance of our Beaumont Estates Hotel. My fish was huge and tasty, the chips just okay as we’re the green beans and peas, a reminder of my first visit to the UK twenty years ago, bland. The garlic mashed potatoes were quite good, as was the fried cauliflower. The menu is huge. And food is okay for a chain. Every meal comes with a limitless salad bar with fresh veggies. Wine and beer prices were reasonable, and it is a much better deal to order a bottle than by the glass.

Today I had a bitter experience in the Harvester. I felt a great shame at my own restaurant that is almost next to my house and for the last 10 years I used to go there. I remember how happy we were here with the old management and team. They were so lovely, so friendly. But today at the entrance was a new man, whom I had never seen there before. And that was a bad luck for me. I invited friends from London. I convinced them to come down to Old Windsor, saying to them that we will have a lovely lunch in a friendly environment of Harvester. But unfortunately for me, this man at the entrance was so rude. I asked him to put us together. He said that wasn’t possible. I asked him kindly if he at least could sit us not far from each other. He was just rude. He said if you don’t like what we offer — you could go home! I couldn’t believe it.
I do not understand why he couldn’t meet my request. We were in no hurry and were willing to wait. He was just rude and obviously in a very bad mood. Eventually we were at our two tables that were far from each other and in adifferent sections: we couldn’t see each other. I kept going and checking on my friends. And the people sitting next to them suggested to me that they would move into our place so we could sit together. And because of their kindness we moved. Later I asked for the manager. I asked where the manager, I want to talk to him. A waiter pointed to a young lady whom I had not seen there before. I looked at her, she was standing next to a man who was rude to me and laughed loudly, looking in my direction. It was awful. I felt very ashamed today. They ruined my day that meant to be beautiful. I do not recommend anyone to go to the restaurant Harvester. It turned to be a bad place with a rude management.

A harvester is a harvester the country over I tend to find. What let this one down is the whole place could do with a revamp and the tables rearranged so you are less crammed in.
There wasn’t a wall that didn’t need a lick of paint, and the toilets a sink was covered up with a bin liner.
The salad kart, was fine but just fine. The presentation just wasn’t up to par, the sauces were mixed with each other, the peppers were so much sliced and mangled.
The staff were nice enough, but did vanish when it was time for the bill.
On the upside the location is lovely, my main meal was a good standard identical to that of other harvesters and if they gave the place a quick refresher I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. For 4 adults one child including a bottle of wine it was around £60. You can’t knock that!

A large group of us went here for a meal recently. I must admit I wasn’t that looking forward to it however the service was excellent. The menu well you’d be hard pushed not to find something you liked as it is pretty extensive. We had a couple of really fussy eaters in our party but they both enjoyed their meal, as did the rest of us. I was really impressed with the waitress who didn’t even need to write down our order and got everything spot on! The salad bar was lovely. a great choice and everything was fresh. The bill was so cheap it would of cost me more to cook a meal for the lot of us at home. and I would of had to wash up! It’s by no means ‘wow’ food but then you get what you pay for! Great beer garden for the summertime too and an undercover area for smokers with outdoor heaters!

I have never really gone to a harvester before until last week in mill hill. The food there was ok. Here the steak was actually cooked to perfection exactly how I would have done it myself. I like medium so like to see a good amount of red in the meat an that is exactly what I got. Good pub garden, great view of the river, ample parking and also good beer. Very impressed indeed.

Well having braved it and been to a Harvester recently, tasting their updated menu and lovely salad bar I braved it again! And again it was very nice. Worth a visit, you know what you are getting, good value for money, tasty food and a good overall atmosphere. Satisfied and would visit again.

This place used to be a great local and although it is a Harvester its actually called The Windsor Lad.
In typical fashion promises were made when the proposal was made to convert it to a restaurant that a decent sized pub area would be retained for people who just wanted to pop in for a pint. It was a very popular local. Needless to say these promises were soon broken and the only way you can still have just a pint most nights is to stand up or possibly sit outside with the smokers.
Still what do you expect from Mitchells and Butlers. Another decent pub bites the dust!

Perfect for a good old get together or nice evening meal.
Prices are always reasonable as well.
