The Model is by far the brightest of the pubs in the Langley Green area of Oldbury. In fact with the exception of the Wetherspoons, it’s probably the brightest pub in all of Oldbury. I sat at the bar squinting for a while having become so accustomed to gloom and décor much much older than me. Not only is it bright, it’s loud; maybe a little too loud. Not loud because of talking or people — there were only a handful in when I visited — but because of the music being blasted out. They do a karaōke there and it looks like it could be the sort of place you could go for a good Friday night out, despite its small size. There were three hand-pulls, none of which seemed to have anything on. It also had the usual selection of lager and cider plus a couple of smooth pours in John Smiths and Boddingtons.
