Oldham Central Metrolink Station

Just keep on getting the tram ,
Its OK really most of the time but it gets a bit crowded after certain times and they only run singles at these times luckily we have two services for how long is any ones guess one is currently running all the way to Ashton through Piccadilly and Victoria so its good for that and the return journey runs all the way to Rochdale
The other runs to the newly opened exchange square and the return journey runs to shaw and Crompton, which is good for going to Victoria station and oldham
They really try to run a frequently service but have experienced some delays in recent times,

Oldham Central basically does what it says on the tin (or sign), it is a metrolink station to serve Oldham Central, which is named after the old train station in the town. It opened at the start of 2014, and is near enough opposite Sainsbury’s, and just a few minutes walk away from the Spindles Oldham shopping mall.
This station is quite easy to get to, with just a quick ramp, meaning that unlike some stations, it is there, and you don’t have to follow a long pathway, which is what I prefer, rather than the approach at Heaton Park station for example.
Oldham Central is a reasonably modern station, although it would be hard to look old-​fashioned considering it did open in 2014, and it is simply just two back to back platforms.
Oldham Central mainly acts somewhere to get in and out of Oldham city centre from, rather than parking up and going for a long distance tram ride, as they is no long-​stay parking nearby, with the Sainsbury’s opposite only being for 3 hours, and the Spindles having paid by the hour parking, which is mainly used by customers of that mall.
Oldham Central is only on one line, which is a little inconvenient, on Line G from Rochdale to Ashton Under Lyne, however this line does also go into central Manchester, which makes it one of the quicker ways to get from Oldham to Manchester, but still not by such a long distance, taking around ½ an hour. Another bad thing about Line G is that after Oldham, it does go through central Manchester which means going to Ashton, which is only 10 – 15 minutes up the road (if that), could take 71 minutes on the tram, which proves the route hasn’t been thought out as well as it should have, which is another reason for this station being let down, and possibly not in the right place, as I’m sure making the bus station into one larger transport complex, like at Bury and Manchester Shudehill, would have been much better and more convenient for longer distance travel.
Considering issues mentioned above, regarding with it only being on one line and a slightly inconvenient route, as well as parking, I feel this is a below average metrolink station, but however due to some positives mentioned and other minor details, I don’t think Oldham Central deserves 1 star, and instead 2 is a fairer rating.
