Peterborough Central Library

this is the main libary in peterborough. loads of books and computers (depending if u can get on a pc).

I have had numerous issues with their online services. Ranging from applying for a library card online only to go to the library and collect it for them to say that it didn’t go through the system and having to do it all over again. The online renewal services never allows me to log in.
In addition, I was accused of not returning books when in fact I had. I was told the shelves would be checked. I called several months later to confirm that they had sorted it. I was told that the books were in fact on their shelves and that she would remove the books from my account. Later that day, I went in to checkout books and was told AGAIN that I had the books missing! I was told again they would be removed from my account but have not contacted them to confirm this.

They run lots of special events and really aim to promote reading and culture, as well as being a centre for community information. Well done PCL.

Peterborough Central Library is the largets library in Peterborough. Aside from lending books, it also lends CDs DVDs, has internet access, a children’s area, a periodicals section and adjoins the John Clare Theatre.
The library is quite modern and has undergone a facelift in the past few years. If you are a member you will be issued a card that will aloow you to check books out at the self service kiosks, book time on the computers, and also allow you to view the stock and reserve or renew books online.
It is quite a well stokced library in terms of books and the staff are quite helpful if you are looking for something in particular. It also hosts a book group that is the the first Thursday of the month in the evening and I think another on a Saturday in the daytime.
Open 7 days a week, this library is used by many members of the community and is an asset to the city.
