The Subway in the Treforest area of Pontypridd is the shopping equivalent of finding a stick of celery in amongst a bowl of chips. With a KFC, Pizza Hut, Dominos and about a dozen Chinese/Indian takeaways surrounding it, Subway stands proud as the sole healthy fast food option on the street. With so many fattening temptations flirting with the taste buds of passers by, Subway more often than not gets overlooked by many of those who live nearby. Yet, despite being seriously outnumbered in the fight against fatty foods, Subway somehow manages to get a fair amount of business and there is almost always a queue whenever I’ve gone there in the past. The food itself is standard Subway procedure; choose your bread, choose you filling, bish-bash-bosh and you’re out the door. This shops actual presence is the real plus point. In an area dominated by unhealthy takeaways, it’s nice to find somewhere you can grab a tasty bite to eat without furiously clogging your arteries at the same time.
