I found this place last night after having had a beer or two in the Wine Vaults… a sweet shop that opens when you’re drunk… pure genius!!! It;‘s right next to the Kings Theatre box office so I don’t know whether you could pop there before a show but certainly afterwards.
H&E Kings is run by a guy called Raymond who must be in his 70s at least, wearing his jacket and tie. The walls are stacked with jars of sweets which you take down and hand to him so he can weigh them out for you in the old fashioned weighing scales. It took me back to being a kid and going to the market to get my sweets.
You walk out with your bags of sweets, a general amusement that there’s a sweet shop open at midnight and a childish gleefulness… priceless!
