me and the kides love going here to watch flims

Turned up late for the adverts but just in time for Les Miserables, the Reception area was unmanned, no directions where to go. We had to exchange the Vue tickets for he actual film tickets. went to the food area who sent us to the sweet area to exchange tickets. Never actually sat on the correct seats as there was no one there to show us too them, lucky there was nobody on the seats as you went in. However beside this the film was enjoyed by the 3 off us.

Would definitly recommend this cinema, as it is clean, modern and centrally loacted, easily accessible by foot (if you live near) or by car (and also get discount parking £1.70 for 4 hours).
Me and my friends visit this cinema most wednesdays (due to orange wednesday (+student) discount so a film costs me around £3−4, bargain!).
But best to bring your own snacks, as food and drink is very pricey.
Also really rate this cinema as it usually has late showings on all new films, so you can avoid the queues earlier in the night (which are sometimes pretty bad!).
Would also note that cinemas can get pretty chilly, so bring an extra layer!

It’s a Vue cinema, so you know you can expect good screens, VIP seats and decent sound. You can also expect queues, high prices and low quality food (aside from the B&J ice cream). I was disappointed that they seemed to struggle with a fairly reasonable amount of custom for a rainy Saturday.

Like all cinema outings, visiting Vue comes with a price! However Orange Wednesdays are of coruse valid in this cinema and can be put to good use! (NB: On Orange Wednesdays, the queue’s flood far and wide so don’t be scared to buy your tickets from the sweetie or snakcs counters — why people choose to wait outside for the outside booking desks is beyond me) This cinema has many different screens so there is a good chance your film will be on at the time you want! The staff are always very friendly and if you loose anything inside, they keep a log of what they have found (from past experience!)
Another great thing about Vue is that they offer discount parking when you use the self-​service car parking ticket stamper before or after the film (located by the snacks desk)

Althought this cinema can be quite pricey (especially if you have kids, sweetie counter alert!) it is spacious, the cinemas have plenty of leg room (essential with crutches) and the staff seem well trained and are always friendly.
They always have the latest films showing, and seem to run them longer than a certain other big chain of cinema.
I love taking my brother and sister, but like i say above, if you take kids it is probably worth taking snacks and drinks with you, as the costs can mount :(That said, it is my only complaint about a generally well run and wel looked after cinema!

I like this cinema, okay its a bit on the pricy side (£7 a ticket eek), but imo its worth it. The cimena is always clean, staff friendly and polite and barring school holidays and orange wednesdays, no long queues and plenty of seats to choose from. Theres plenty of refreshments to choose from, but cinema food is expensive, so just sneak your own in, lol.

This is a great 14 screen cinema in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth. It shows pretty much all the new films and also does special cheaper screenings for children at weekends and senior citizens on Thursdays.
The screens vary in size but all have quite comfy seats and plenty of leg room. There are also plenty of toilets in the cinema.
They sell a range of food and drink including popcorn, hot dogs and ice cream but, be warned, it is not cheap!
Gunwharf Quays has a large pay car park but, if you get your car park ticket validated in the cinema, you can park for 4 hours for £1.30 (providing you go to see a film, of course!).

This is a great place to come and watch movies. There are a lot of screens that show mostly new movies, but they often do preview showings, foreign films and morning screenings for kids. Popular films often sell out, though, so it’s a good idea to pre-​book for those. The snacks there are pretty good, especially the pick ‘n’ mix and nachos, but what’s really amazing is the Baskin Robbins ice cream. If you get a 3-​scoop sundae, you might want to bring your own chopped nuts though, since they always seem to run out! The popcorn there used to be amazing, but it’s since become tasteless, chewy rubber.
The staff there are really nice and actually knowledgeable about film, and the toilets are almost always clean, even on busy nights. This is the only cinema I go to, mainly because the leg room is excellent — I have a very tall family! — and the sound and picture quality of the films are excellent. Just don’t sit at the front, though, unless you feel like watching a film with your head swishing back and forth, like watching a tennis match.

Busy as half term. We arrived about 30 minutes before our film was due to start. We walked straight in and were told to go to number 5. Went in — it was dark and sat down only to realise that we were viewing the last couple of minutes of the film’s previous showing! Would have appreciated knowing that we should wait. However, seats were comfortable. After the film the cleaning crew came in and did a pretty good job of making the place presentable again. Sound good. No hassles.

This is excellently located if you want to combine shopping and cinema. It does get extremely busy at the weekends, so best to book tickets on line before you set out.
Great range of films and a really good Kids Film Club at the weekends.
Popcorn, hotdogs, all you would expect to find at a cinema!

This is a big cinema in the heart of gunwharf quays. There are quite a few screens so there’s always plenty of movies to choose from. It is getting more expensive to go — think its about £7 a ticket now and the food and drinks inside are pricey. Popcorn, nachos, drinks all add up! there’s a good pix n’ mix counter and a lovely ben and jerrys ice cream counter! This place gets busy especially orange wednesdays and with new releases. The seats however are really comfy and it’s always been very clean when i’ve visited.

Before Vue cinema opened at the Gunwharf I would make the trip up to Port Solent, which isn’t such a nice cinema or sometimes go to The Odeon Northend which was pretty bad (tiny seats).
This is a great cinema, lots of films, lots of screens, lots of space — lots of everything!
If you are in the heart of the city like I am there’s loads of buses that will get you to the Gunwharf.
The fact that there’s lots of restaurants and shopping at the gunwharft too means the whole family can have a day out and all find something to do, you don’t just have the cinema, I like having a meal after.
The queues are often long, again depends on how you buy your ticket. I just go to the counter, always found it quick and easy and rarely missed any screenings of films I wanted to see. I always get my tickets a bit early, then go off to the newsagent to get snacks before watching the film anyway. Always the best way to avoid long last minute queues in my opinion

I was so happy when this cinema opened. Finally a cinema in the city with big comfy seats and plenty of leg room, and it’s normally nice and clean. I love this cinema, and it’s not surprising to find that it’s the 3^rd most popular/​busy in the whole UK! Prices are pretty high compared to many other places, but I’ve always been able to see the films I want on orange Wednesdays 2 for 1. Snacks are extortionate, but I always take my own. Always buy your tickets at the popcorn counter, the queues are shorter (lots of people queue up outside not realising you can always buy them inside as it’s not made clear.

This is definitely the bigger and better of the two cinemas in Portsmouth. It has more screens and better seating than the Odeon in Port Solent.
The seating in this cinema is organised at a much steeper angle than at the odeon — what the means is that it doesn’t really matter how tall, or how crazy a hairdo the person in fron of you has — it won’t obscure your view.
The seating has much more legroom than it does at the odeon — I would say all vue seats compare with odeon’s premium seating. That said tickets are more expensive here.
You can order tickets online and collect from automated machines in the foyer. At busy times the queue snakes back to the escalator so book ahead or allow queuing time.
I don’t use the food counters, save for the occassional ice cream as it is expensive and I don’t really like cinema food.
You can get your parking validated so you only pay £1.40 for up to 4 hours. There’s a small scanner on the far right of the popcorn/​food counter as you walk in. If no staff are on hand you can do this yourself.
