Nando’s

Love the flavours and pir piri chicken cooked just right, crispy skin. Had half chicken which I thought would be too much, but so tasty it was completely finished.

I generally don’t review chain/​franchised restaurants, especially not one that i have reviewed before but I felt the need to review this place in Reading. I do feel like that old lady from small town USA giving a 5 star review for olive garden though…=P My rationale is this: I’ve noticed that most people who come to Reading don’t live in Reading and rely on review sites to find places to eat and I would definitely suggest eating at Nando’s as an option if you are not looking for something fancy, but something easy and tasty and a pretty environment.
The oracle is a large shopping centre situated around the river and the restaurants along the riverside are all gorgeous. The only setback is that unlike most of the riversides around the world, riversides in the UK are covered by chains (if you don’t believe me, head over to southbank in london). This one is no different. Along the river, you will find Wagamama, Strada, Bella Italia, Pizza Express, Yo Sushi… basically all the chains you see everywhere in the UK. Generally speaking, I tend to avoid most of them, but i can never resist good old Nando’s. I can’t vouch for the ones outside of the UK, but all the Nando’s in which i’ve eaten are all fall-​off-​the-​bone juicy covered in the piripiri sauce of your choosing.
Because I’m hot a huge fan of white meat, I don’t usually order the quarter and half chicken anymore, but the wings. 5 or 10 wings with yummy sides. The spicy rice is a must for a side, and I generally like the minty mashed peas. My bf usually likes the fries/​chips. The sweet mashed potato is a huge NO though. It tasted like they make it with sugar.
I’m not saying that this will be the best meal you will have ever eaten, but again, it’s good price, ultimately tasty, and extremely satisfying. For a quick and casual fast-​food meal, I would definitely stop by Nando’s.
Extra points for great service and gorgeous location for this one.

There was a 15 minute wait which was strange seeing as though there were at least five or six empty tables. Anyway once given a table we went up and ordered, collected our desired sauces & cutlery, filled our glasses with soft drinks and head back to the table to wait for our food. We were sat next to two lads who unwittingly kept us entertained for the entire duration of the meal, the meal arrived after a reasonable 10 minutes from ordering. I had ordered ¼ chicken with an accompaniment of two sides. The chicken was cooked well and marinated in the lemon and herb sauce. The chips and corn could have done with being a tad hotter. Both my partner and I enjoyed our meals though he did say he wished his burger was a little larger. Whilst we thought we had taken full advantage of the free soft drink refills, one of the guys next to us went up 6 times. All in all a decent experience and pretty much what you would expect from any given Nando’s.

Oh God… I wish we had Nando’s in Texas… if you are in Reading or the UK, it is a must! Being a Mexican, for me the spicy sauce was not a problem, but it was spicy and made me sweat a bit.

This Nandos is pretty large inside and seems to get fairly crowded. We split a whole chicken and it was om nom nom good. I will say the menu setup with all the add-​ons is a bit tricky to figure out but usually someone will come over and ask if you have been there before and explain it to you if you haven’t. I’ve tried the grilled chicken breasts with Medium sauce, the half chicken and a chicken pita. Of the 3 the half chicken is probably your best bet but the chicken breasts were really good and held a lot of the good saucy flavor too.

It’s Nando’s! Good option if you’re craving chicken and want to experiment with their peri-​peri hot sauces. Have gotten the chicken wings on a couple of occasions and they were fine (I’m a tough sell knowing what good chicken wings are like from NY).

It is like most of other Nando’s! It is a fancy food or place but the quality of food is good, I love their sauces!

What’s better than Nando’s? Another Nando’s! This one is located on the south bank of the Oracle Shopping Centre at Riverside.
Ordering is the usual British model. Take a seat and get your table number, study the menu and then go up to the till (‘register’ in American) to place your order and pay for it. When it’s ready, someone brings it to your table.
The chicken is excellent. Several varieties of spice levels, ranging from Extra Hot, Medium and Lemon & Herb or Mango & Lime. I particularly enjoy the Medium, which I find just at the top level of my tolerance for spiciness. They offer the chicken in pieces — quarter, half or whole — as well as a variety of wraps, burgers and pitas. If you’re not a meat-​eater, they have Portobello mushroom, veggie and bean options.
Sides. Oh, the sides! Almost good enough by themselves — I usually go with the corn on the cob, mashed potatoes or coleslaw, but the mashed peas and spicy rice might be more to your liking.
I’ve not tried the desserts, but the ice creams and assorted cakes look good when I see others partaking.
Drinks are unusual for a UK restaurant. Yes, they have single bottled beers and poured juices, but there’s also a self-​serve soda fountain. Free refills. How American!
Outside tables for when the weather is better.

A little oasis in the middle of a busy shopping centre. BBs does gorgeous muffins and lovely coffee. And to top it BBs has large panoramic views looking over Riverside.

Awesome chicken joint! I visited Reading for work for a week and frequented nando’s a few times to eat. I always ordered the chicken as they have a variety of sauces to use that are all tasty.

I can’t believe no one has review this awesome place yet! What a treat to get some Portuguese food while in England. Now this is a chain, so I am not sure exactly how authentic it is, but we had a great time while there. Some pictures are coming for sure.
They have a somewhat strange ordering system. You have to go up to the counter and order the food, but the staff comes to your table to take your drink order. However, we were never told that upon arriving, so we waited at our table for a good long while before we figured out what we were supposed to be doing.
They also seemed to have difficulty accommodating our large party of 8 or 9 people. We were stuck in an extra long booth before we decided we were going to move and relocate to some tables. The staff should know that 8 people were not going to be comfortable in the booth, and that you never crowd in a large party. Especially at a place where you have to go get your own drinks, sauces, condiments etc.
Now onto the food! Good, good, good! Loved it! Lovely roast chicken, and the bottled sauce is what makes it sing! Chips (fries) are great as well. We also had coleslaw and a few other sides I can’t recall. Overall it was a winner. No complaints from our party about the food.
Prices are decent. Nothing over the top, or too cheap. It seemed to be right down the middle.
I can say that as much of a fan as I am, I also think I won’t exactly miss this place living in Texas. We have plenty of chicken with Mexican influence. :)
The take away: Great for groups, moderately priced, delicious food and a good atmosphere.

Fresh food and love the way your order so if you’re with a large group you can go up separately. Love the seasoning on the chips too. Good prices, easy cholices to be be made with the menu and you can then choose your own sauces from a variety of spices. They are also good with children so ideal for weekend lunch or evening meal before putting the little ones to bed.

Always the first choice for our family meal out — the Piri Piri is a big favourite and the menu is always full of tempting meals. drinks are reasonably priced and the décor and atmosphere always makes for an enjoyable evening.
The staff are friendly and this always seems to be a popular place to eat — never been when its been quiet which is always a good sign.

Lecker Essen im Nandos. Vom Nandos aus hat man den wohl besten Blick mitten aufs Oracle. Besser einen Tisch reservieren, denn hier ist es doch immer sehr voll, kein Wunder bei den leckeren Chicken-​Gerichten !!

I really love Nandos, as their chicken is always nicely done, irregardless of the branch.
The Nandos near the Oracle centre in Reading is no exception. The quality of the food is pretty standard and the atmosphere is good. Definitely suitable for parties, family day outs, and just casual night out with friends.
The price is good and affordable, and the portions are good. I always have ¼ chicken with 2 sides. If you get soft drinks, then you are entitled to free refills, which is handy, incase you accidentally squirt very hot peri peri sauce onto your chicken instead of garlic and herbs. ;)

Pros This Nando’s is located on the Riverside shopping and leisure complex in Reading. The restaurant is quite large and well laid out with different levels, and plenty of seating and tables. It’s well decorated in Nando’s signature funky spicy style, and the menu matches the style well– spicy chicken-​themed dishes, burgers and salads. There are usually offers available, and the bottomless drinks and frozen yoghurt are great. The staff are friendly and welcoming, if usually run off their feet!
Cons It’s a minor niggle, but I hate the service in Nando’s. You always have to queue forever to order your food, and whenever I go it seems to take forever to arrive.

This Nandos can get really really busy in the evenings as its in a really nice location on the riverside and a lot of people go here after they have finished shopping. It is quite big but sometimes there can be a really long wait for a table although they do offer a service where you can put your name down and they will text you when your table is ready — really handy!
The food itself is normally very quick to arrive after its been ordered and the staff are pretty cheery :) They offer unlimited soft drinks and a wide range of deserts which are all quite nice and not too expensive either.

The food is pretty much as you’d expect — ok. Nothing special, but you always get what you expect (nothing too fancy, nothing rubbish).
Staff are nice and the sauces are great (although the hot one is super-​hot!)

I seem to enjoy nando’s no matter when we go, I really enjoy going during lunchtimes in the summer, it is great sitting outside, people-​watching, with tasty food and the sun shining down on you.
The food is really good, there seems to be a good choice, even for vegetarians and the service is always great, I’ve never had any problems.
It is also great for a night-​time meal out, the atmosphere is great and you can hear the food cooking, which certainly gets my stomach rumbling.
The prices are great too, and you get free refils on drinks which is great, I wish all eat out places did that.

Nice Nando’s situated at the Oracle. Staff are friendly, service is quick and its ideally situated for shoppers and workers alike.
Food is really nice and the vegetarian options are good too. I have to admit to being too afraid to try the hot seasoning, but my husband assures me that its well worth trying. If you dare!

Nando’s is a bit of a halfway house between a restaurant and a take-​away. You order you’re food at the till, but they bring it to your table, and its freshly cooked. The prices are good and the chicken is always tasty.
You get to choose just how spicy you like your chicken and there even extra bottles of sauce to make it hotter still. The free refills on soft drinks are good for those that get carried away with the sauce.
