Little Chef

NOT BAD
During quiet times this can be quite a pleasant stop over. The staff could do with some customer training though — for example, whenever we bring the children in they will not give you the children’s menus so you will sit for five minutes until they come to take your order and you can ask for a child’s menu. Why not give them to you when you are seated?
When they get busy tempers tend to get a bit frayed and you might get barked at.
You get the impression that the bosses have got their sums wrong when calculating staff numbers and they are always running short.
The food is generally ok.

Yay for this clean and friendly Little Chef! We were two hungry people, unhappily leaving the New Forest after the nicest of holidays. We were tired and wanted food we didn’t have to think about in a place where we could keep an eye on our car to make sure nobody lightened our load of clothing and electronics in the back. We also weren’t that keen on spending more than necessary. This Little Chef exceeded expectations! After all, it’s always a little scary when you walk into this chain. The service you get ranges from incredibly shit to fine and dandy. What we got on this occasion was the absolutely sweetest motherly type waitress. She was the nicest sort of person and provided the nicest sort of service. She even let us substitute things, which isn’t always readily offered. The food was quick and nice and hot and plentiful. It was SUCH a surprise to be offered such expectedly good service at a Little Chef, and it was certainly above and beyond what we often receive in much much nicer restaurants in London. Hooray!
