First off, if you can manage to figure out the alphabetical
arrangement in this shop, you deserve a medal. Who knew the alphabet could be so confusing? Anyway, aside from that, this is a large shop spread over three floors selling CD’s, DVD’s, games and the like. The staff are usually helpful and friendly and surprisingly knowledgable. You can often find bargains, especially on DVD’s and boxsets. Unfortunatley the same can’t be said about new release CD’s, where this is one of the most expensive places to purchase them. I do
sometimes wonder how large music shops such as this manage to survive when most of what they sell can be found cheaper online. Having said that, if you’re the ‘I want it right now’ type, this is a good place to start.

It’s nice to see at least one highstreet store stay in the same place over the years so HMV has done well to stay all these years. If I’m stuck and have no time to go online then this is a good alternative for CV’s and DVD’s. They have just had a re-​fit and it does look very white inside and spangly. There seems to be some sort of docking station or interactive zone so it’s great for the kids to keep entertained. They do have a good choice of sale items cheap older CD’s and DVD’s. They also sell the larger boxsets of TV series etc so worth a root round upstairs. Look at the floor displays as often there is a bargain hiding in a pile of DVD’s

This HMV is a very well stocked one, with lots of stuff all over a couple of floors. The DVD selection especially boxsets is great, go upstairs and you’ll find tons of them.
Its also good for games, DVDs, music, magazines, tshirts, and consoles/​games hardware.
They have some great offers on boxsets, and cheap-​ish dvd albums.

If you still shop for music in the High Street then this is the store for you. We’ve seen other music stores come and go over the years but HMV is still going strong. This must be accountable to the great customer service and wide range of music, films, dvds and games available. If they dont have what you want they will easily order it in for you.

Fairly good HMV store. Good for sales and bargains if you can get past the crowds. Staff are generally pretty helpful but there are a few who aren’t particularly interested in customer service

HMV in southampton is a very well presented store, there is lots of dvds and cds to choose from, for example world music to pop and rock. The staff are very helpful and friendly and you can always ask them for help if your stuck in finding your products.

A chain store. Like other HMV’s they have some great sales on sometimes. This is the place to go to find cds, dvds, games and consoles. The have recently changed the store around and it seems that the main thing they are selling as soon as you go in is dvds and chart cds. For other cds you need to go downstairs and the stairs do get quite crowed. The shop is on three floors and they have a good selection. They seem to sell things cheaper on their website than instore.

HMV has one of the largest selections of DVDs in the whole of Southampton as it is quite a large shop. Unfortunately, the rest of the public also know this so in order to avoid getting annoyed at the rest of Soton crowding you as you browse, go on a weekday when the kids are still at school.
As previously stated, the staff are very amicable and will help you if you require it.

Fabulous Dahling!!! HMV have THE BESTEST sales in the wold with dvds and cds from a quid! just amazing! can get very packed though! The staff in here are as nice as pie, ask them about anything and theyll go out their way to help you.
