Specialties

Does your lifestyle or occupation create muscular tension, postural deficiencies, stress and anxiety?

Do you let pain and restricted movement interfere with the way you live your life?

Michael McCandless, I.T.E.C., M.G.C.P. is a qualified holistic therapist, who will assess the whole body to formulate a massage plan to alleviate a wide variety of conditions.

Michael offers a comprehensive arsenal of massage techniques — therapeutic, sports, Indian head or aromatherapy — which can be applied to heads, backs, shoulders, necks, hands, feet or whole body. Add in his experience of Reiki healing and his treatments are specifically designed to improve the circulation and accelerate the body’s natural healing processes.

Don’t suffer in silence, let Mike address the root of your discomfort and help you to help yourself.

History

Established in 2004.

The Ark fulfilled Michael McCandless’s dream of providing a one-stop shop for de-stressing and well-being.

Mike specialises in massage therapy, aromatherapy, sports massage and Indian Head massage, as well as being a Reiki practitioner.

«Most problems stem from something else,» he explains, «and if you treat the whole person, other ailments tend to disappear.»

By taking a holistic approach to each of his clients, his therapies are also beneficial psychologically — a balm to mind, body and spirit.

The Ark is positioned near the centre of the thriving seaside town of Leigh-on-Sea, and provides an oasis of calm tranquillity for the therapeutic needs of the local population as well as the nearby towns of Southend-on-Sea, Eastwood, Rayleigh, Chalkwell and Westcliff-on-Sea.

Business Owner

Michael McCandless worked in the City for over a decade before realising that he wanted to do something a little more productive with his life and, in 2004, he opened the Ark, fulfilling his dream of providing a calm, relaxed, one-stop shop for de-stressing and well being.

His view is that most ailments tend to disappear if you treat the whole person; so he uses his wide range of massage techniques and Reiki healing to bring nourishment to tired muscles or damaged tissues, ridding the body of harmful toxins and allowing it to function more efficiently. Combine this with the psychological benefits of his holistic approach and each treatment provides a balm for mind, body and spirit.
