Nice place for a pint, good atmosphere. Food was also delightful, I had the Taylor beef burger and it was pretty decent. Some drinks can be expensive but where is cheap in St Andrews.

Nettes Pub direkt gegenüber von Touri-Infocenter. Ich kann das Red Ale empfehlen. Wirklich lecker!

Nice place for a pint in an old-school pub atmosphere. Phil, the manager, has great taste in real ales and they’ve always got some good guest ales and guest ciders on tap, in addition to the usual suspects. Friendly place either at night or during the day(I even sometimes go in the afternoon to work-they’ve got wifi!) Stars are for the beer. If this review were based solely on food, it would be 2.5 stars. Standard Taylor Walker menu. In town, I’ve found the Criterion has better pies and Whey Pat has much, much better nachos. In fact, don’t even bother with nachos at Central, but most other items are solid, if a bit expensive for what they are. In conclusion, if you’re a visitor to town, definitely stop in for a pint! If you are a student or a local, you’ve probably already been or are a regular, so no need to say more.

Excellent spot for a pint(or 3) after a round of golf. Traditional pub — good beer selection on tap and greasy pub food to match. The fish and chips are good choice. Service can be a bit slow but when you get their attention they are helpful and quick to pour.

Perfect bar for locals, students, and internationals to grab a drink. Everyone was friendly and it was lively each of the three nights we swung in. The bartender was from outside Philadelphia… you just never know what kind of small world you will discover with a conversation. Anyways…as a golfer, drinker, and pub enjoyer… this was a great spot.

Cool pub, good grub, great location. Grab a pint and a burger or steak pie, or roast for under 14 pounds.

Nice enough local sort of pub. Good-ish choice of beers and Whisky. Not too young a crowd or too expensive given that it’s St Andrews!

Your classic British pub(in my American opinion…) Very nice bar with a really good atmosphere. Good beers on tap. Great location in the center of Market Street. Seating out on the sidewalk in the warmer months. Great place to go for a drink with friends, day or night. That being said, it really is a PUB and not the kind of place you want to go with a large group of friends on a weekend night. Overall, though, I really like it.

A good bar with a cozy atmosphere. It serves good food and always has a great selection of cask ales. Also the reasonable prices make for a good overall bar in St. Andrews.

Among my fondest memories in Scotland was getting blitzed at the Central with my buddy Dan on several occasions. The place is just chill, though the food made me homesick… no, no… just sick(okay, harsh… but the salsa there tasted nothing like salsa). The atmosphere, staff, and draft beer rocked my world. Their shepherd’s pie wasn’t bad, though I lambasted British food the entire time I was in the UK. A great way to get the day started: start with a few pints of Fuller’s London Pride Ale(though the Scots will turn their noses up at you), then onto pints of Lia Fail, shots, lather, rinse, and repeat.

A popular choice with the locals, this place is cheap, cheerful and cosy. With the traditional local pub atmosphere, the food is good, plentiful and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere relaxed. If you are after a true taste of St Andrews, with less students, then here would be a place to go.

Oh Central, how I love thee. It was here that this Yankee was introduced to the mysteries of Yorkshire pudding and the healing powers of straight whiskey after being frozen by the ‘brisk’ winter wind. The food here is good. Fish and chips are a favorite, seconded by the chicken sandwich. Tasty and simple. The prices are super reasonable, ambiance is warm and friendly and the crowd is great. The pub quizzes and bar tenders are great and look forward to coming back here next time I am in the area.
